Resumen del Editor

Since its publication in hardcover, Marion Nestle's What to Eat has become the definitive guide to making healthy and informed choices about food. Praised as "radiant with maxims to live by" in the New York Times Book Review and "accessible, reliable and comprehensive" in the Washington Post, What to Eat is an indispensable resource, packed with important information and useful advice from the acclaimed nutritionist who "has become to the food industry what...Ralph Nader [was] to the automobile industry" (St. Louis Post-Dispatch).

How we choose which foods to eat is growing more complicated by the day, and the straightforward, practical approach of What to Eat has been praised as welcome relief. As Nestle takes us through each supermarket section - produce, dairy, meat, fish - she explains the issues, cutting through foodie jargon and complicated nutrition labels and debunking the misleading health claims made by big food companies. With Nestle as our guide, we are shown how to make wise food choices - and are inspired to eat sensibly and nutritiously.

Now available in audio, What to Eat is a classic - "the perfect guidebook to help navigate through the confusion of which foods are good for us" (USA Today).

A great deal of information

This audible book is stuffed with eye-opening, informative facts. I almost want to say a person would be better off with the book. That way you could skip the chapters that weren’t pertinent to you &, more importantly, mark the chapters you want to review again or share with others. The chapters on fish were truly eye-opening. I would go so far as to recommend this book be part of a school’s curriculum. My problem with this audible book was the narrator. Her voice was brisk and clear but the sound began to grate on my nerves.

More a call to action than practical nutritional guide

There is more here about what not to eat than what to eat. While valid message is being communicated, a lot of the content would be better transferred to the author’s other book Food Politics or Food Safety.

don't waste your money more up to date books are a

I found it very hard to finish the book because most of the information especially the science behind diet was outdated. I found some of the corporate tactics to get us to eat more interesting other than that it was the standard nutritionist non-scientific view to get you to eat whatever you want and to bash low carb diets

Misleading Title and Description

Dr. Nestle put a lot of time an effort into this book, and it's very well written. However, much of the book is about industry and politics. Judging from how I experienced the book, I would say it's about half politics and half about food. And overall there is maybe 5-10% information that can help -me- make decisions about food. This book should be titled "What to Tell Your Congressman," because Dr. Nestle places much more emphasis on political action regarding food than daily choices.

Not a bad book, but not what it sells itself as. This book was increasingly annoying as Dr. Nestle constantly tells the reader/listener what to write to their congressman about the food industry. I'm not looking for big-daddy government to help me select food, I want to know what I can do in my own personal life.

2 Stars overall because it is well researched and well written but has very little to do with the title and description. A short, to-the-point, apolitical, summary version about the food itself would probably only be 2-3 hours and would have been much better.
