Resumen del Editor

The stakes are high . . . and the entire world is waiting for the verdict.

The Navy has uncovered a group of radical Islamic clerics who have infiltrated the Navy Chaplain Corps, inciting sailors and marines to acts of terrorism. And Lieutenant Zack Brewer has been chosen to prosecute them for treason and murder.

Only three years out of law school, Zack has already made a name for himself, winning the coveted Navy Commendation medal. Just coming off a high-profile win, this case will challenge the very core of Zack's skills and his Christian beliefs - beliefs that could cost him the case and his career.

With Diane Colcernian, his staunchest rival, as assistant prosecutor, Zack takes on internationally acclaimed criminal defense lawyer Wells Levinson. And when Zack and Diane finally agree to put aside their animosity, it causes more problems than they realize.

Good Story, But What's With the British Narrator?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book. Once you get past the very British accent for a very American book with very American characters, it is good.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I felt like I knew ths people after listening for a while. I had to know what happened to them!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Should have used an American accent!

Any additional comments?

I recommend all three in this series. By the end of this one, the British accent is tolerable. Still a bad choice for a narrator, in my opinion!

Don Brown's Treason, Navy Justice

This first in series of Navy Justice novels is a great read. It is not to bogged down in details, moves along well, and maintains a tension that the reader will enjoy. Zack Brewer is captivating as a litigator who struggles with his faith as a Christian and his responsibilities as a Naval JAG Officer. The premise of the book is believable, and it is well written. However, the choice to use a British narrator is distracting. His British mispronounciations of U.S. terms and words in normal conversation and in the legal setting is distracting, almost laughable. The performance of foreign accents is excellent. One would wish that he would be able to mimic American English as well. When the narrator uses British pronounciations when portraying any Naval Officer, even the President of the U.S., it is awful. A Britisher trying to sound Southern is unbelievable! Change the narrator for future volumes and this could be one of the best!

Keep of the good work, Don Brown!

Worth finishing

The basic legal plot was suspenseful enough to keep me interested. However, undertones of religion and conservative political view kept appearing in the story line and were jarring. Also, if an author includes settings like the deep south, please teach the reader how to say the place names.

ARRRR Matey

If you could sum up Treason in three words, what would they be?

A believable story

Would you be willing to try another book from Don Brown? Why or why not?

I would like to read another one just to see if the narration is better

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of James Adams?

Anyone

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No

Any additional comments?

James Adams needs to learn that the old pirate talk for sailors is no longer with us, Admirals talk like regular people, and the navy has conversations like real men

Drama, suspense, politics, military - 1st book

My husband and I really enjoyed this book. For me, some of the foreign names are a bit difficult to keep up with. It seems to be a well-researched book and has developed characters. The narrator does a fine job, but we question why a British accent. He often pronounces words differently from the American way, but it is not a distraction. He does a great job with accents.

Clean Navy Justice Series

I've read many complain about no cussing, etc. in Don Brown's books. I personally know some moral soldiers in the service even 2day staying true to God & their convictions..leaving their families to keep us safe. If someone wants smut I say "then go buy it somewhere else"..let some of us who admire Great Stories about the USN, MC, AF, etc enjoy a great military mystery w intrigue & a lil clean romance. If that's what Ur trying to find, this series should be in your library! I have every one! I also salute Don Brown for a Job WELL DONE!

Enjoyed the Story ... the Narrator, Not So Much

Military, Courtroom, and a bit of intrigue. that was great. But having a British narrator failing at southern accents, and at male/female voices almost ruined the book.

Good book

Typical for Dan Brown, complex tale, requires some thought, not immediately predictable. Good characters, worth the listen.
