A Sabbat Worlds novel.

When the vital forge world of Orestes comes under attack by a legion of Chaos Titans, the planet is forced to appeal for help. The Titans of Legio Invicta respond, committing their own force of war engines to the battle.

Listen to it because....

It's a vision of total war in the 41st millennium, from the smallest soldier to the largest God-Machine.

The story:

When the vital forge world of Orestes comes under attack by a legion of Chaos Titans, the planet is forced to appeal for help. The Titans of Legio Invicta, although fresh from combat and in desperate need of refit and repair, respond, committing their own force of war engines to the battle. As the god-machines stride to war, the world trembles, for the devastation they unleash could destroy the very world they have pledged to save.

It's exactly what you would want from a book called Titanicus. As always, Abnett delivers an excellent mix of perspectives. Everything from the point of view of the pilots of the god machines, to the ordinary citizens.

One point of note, if you've been reading the Ghost novels, this book is set within the same theater of the Sabbat War, but you really don't need to know anything about the other books to listen to this one. You also won't be spoiling yourself at all if you skip ahead and listen to this before being fully caught up with the Tanith.

Excellent

Could have used more titans. A little predictable. But I still enjoyed the ride and multiple storylines. Not sure what was the point of the crazy guy in the garden, might figure it out on the second playthrough or realize I missed it in his introduction. Addicted to the lore.

First 40K book.

This is the first 40K book of several I have tried over the years that I have been engrossed in. Wrapped up in. From the beginning of the book until the end the story grabbed me and didn’t let me go. Highly recommend to all interested in 40K.

I have tried 40K books before and failed

Amazing fights between the massive god machines that had so much variation and alway kept you on your toes for what was happening. But also gave and amazing point of view of what it was like to be a normal person in the presence of then. That’s only part of how the book plays out. As you hit amazing pockets of action 4 main story lines and worked in unison uncovering various parts and giving you such great variation instead of slogging through the same stuff. You get to see so many points of view of the same war and the titans and it’s so amazing. It gets you attached to overall mechanicus lore but made me adore the power structure in Titan command. But at the same time you also are routing for various guardsmen in a completely different position.

The only fault is that towards the end the final for some of the stories felt rushed when it could have maintained that depth it had throughout but didn’t kill my experience just left me wanting more at the end.

This is thee Titan book to get into titancus

Problem of this one is that it have great story setup and large and meaningful conflict but resolution of this conflict is very slim.
Wanted a whole trilogy on this, really, because there is a lot to develop in this story but it have been stopped without a chance to unfold.
Never the less, great titan action.
Thank you, ma little devil.

Great story with zero impact on the universe

Giant engines of destruction. Cybernetic warriors. A heresy from the past. Intrigue and chaos. Whats not to like!?!?

Also… when you pair Dan Abnett’s writing with Tobey Longworth’s narration you are in for a great experience.

My favorite themes of the story are how the Princeps and their God machines interact and how their personalities mesh (or don’t mesh).

It was hard for me to really connect with the mechanicus characters, i guess it is my lack of cybernetic augmentation, but that will be taken care of soon… time to ditch this filthy flesh for the purity of the machine.

Ghosts in the machine

Toby Longworth is my favorite narrator I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, and this book exemplifies his talent. He turns the fight for Orestes into reality. I find that a lot of things with concurrent storylines lose me, as I usually have one that I like way more than the others and will dread when the perspective shifts, but I enjoyed this one in its entirety, sad to see the current perspective cut short but excited to return to another

Awesome

It ends a bit abruptly, and some scenes are skipped in favor of the aftermath for dramatic effect, but overall this is an excellent book about honorable giant mech crews and their ground support. Highly recommend.

Giant robots, giant drama!
