A fine tale of sisters bonding. Oh, and chaos is t

First and foremost, anything Emma Gregory puts work into is top tier in my book. Secondly, this story shows how martyrs can shape the Adepta Soroitas by having a few of them tell stories to eachother, and I think that that is an amazing premise. And third, don't do Chaos, kids.

please stop having the narrator sing

it's not so much the fault of the narrator about the singing cuz I have a feeling they were instructed to do it and it's not this isn't the only book I've had play that's had a singing bit in it and it's it's they're always basically just yelling because it's not so much the narrator's forte otherwise they do a perfectly fine job reading the entire novel acting out the characters doing the different voices but can we stop having them sing parts of the book

Emma Gregory singing is a delight

She’s got a perfect voice for battle hymns, rich and soaring and powerful. The story and all is good, but I’m mostly just here to shout out how great a match her singing voice is for this material.

Doesn’t really go anywhere

Feels like a short story, not a full length novel. If you haven’t read faith and fire or hammer and anvil I would start with those.

Pleasantly surprised

i have been trying to find a good sisters story to listen too, but it seems like every book so far has been getting luke warm reviews.

i went into this one with low expectations, but it was (thankfully) a really good look into the mindset of each of the different orders of the sisters of battle.

the dialogue is a little cringe in the opening chapters, and i can do with a little less singing from a narrator, but the rest is pretty solid.

a small, self contained story that is a good break from galaxy spanning conflicts, or stories with way too many characters to keep track of.

definitely recommend to sisters fans. and even if your not, it gives you a peek as to why space nuns are so efficient in a galaxy filled with armored super soldiers and literal nightmares from hell.

Subpar

The writing is weak, the story isn't very interesting. The performance is disappointing at times. Somebody should have coached a better melody for those hymns. She does well in most other areas, it's really surprising to me that she was good with it.
