The life and times of a space marine

Loved the story, loved the checovs guns, for Ithaca and for the emperor my brothers.

best black library story of all

the best introduction to warhammer 40k of all of the black library novels, but even for a long time reader of the universe it still is a worthy read. admirably performed by one of the best voice actors black library uses, this story provides nuance to the faceless space marines, and feeling to the grim dark of 40k. I recommend to everyone who is interested start here if you want to get into warhammer 40k novels.

Nice story flow!

Flowed well. Minor editing issues but they don’t take away from the audio. Great job Dan!

Outstanding

A great book to read along side Gaunts ghosts or as a stand-alone. The iron snakes show up here and there in those books. This follows the story of brother priad and his squad. The iron snakes are stoic warriors that have a culture based in some Greek mythos. Loved it and it gave me a break in the middle of the odyssey that is Gaunts ghosts. Written well and audiobook is voiced by the same guy as the Gaunts ghosts novels. In the beginning it is episodic in nature but it follows Priad through his journey in the space marine chapter. The last half of the book is where the overarching story comes together. Outstanding book, a fun read. Every part had me enthralled. I was never bored.

Didn't want it to end

My first Audible book!

Thoroughly enjoyed the collection of stories about the Iron Snakes. Dan Abnett is a very good writer and there were parts where I didn't want to stop reading -- the sign of a good book.

I also liked the narrator and how he would change his voice for different characters. Made it more immersive.

A very solid book about another chapter of the Astartes.

I'm sad it's over. :(

Never a dull moment with twists of turns that fits the snake theme quite nicely.

Abnett can't miss

When you hear, "written by Dan Abnett, performed by Toby Longworth" know its a jam

Amazing!

The story is very well written and the performance of the narrator is great. I’d recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in getting into 40k. The Iron Snakes are well fleshed out with their traditions and customs. If you like greek mythology and 40k this is the perfect book for you since the Iron Snakes are basically Spartan Space Marines.

This is where you should start

It is a wonderful telling of Space Marine brotherhood. If I ever want to introduce someone to 40k this is where I’d say to start.

He does it again. the author writes a perfect novel building upon the lord and background of the Iron Snakes Space Marine chapter. the story is executed perfectly by Toby Lomgworth. through explicit writing, and cunning wordplay Dan Abnett build up the following of Brother Priad and his space Marines on their journey
