SOON TO BE A NETFLIX ORIGINAL INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Reminiscent of a classic whodunit, this “pulse-quickening” (Oprah Daily) instant New York Times and USA TODAY bestseller follows a journalist searching for a missing woman on a cruise ship—a woman that everyone else insists doesn’t exist.

Travel magazine writer Lo Blacklock has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: one week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the elite guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea.

At first, Lo’s voyage is perfect, with a plush cabin, elegant dinner parties, and plenty of relaxation. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something has gone terribly, terribly wrong…

With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up a taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—proving, once again, her place as “the Agatha Christie of [her] generation” (The Washington Post).

It was a very engaging read. Lots of twists. I liked the fact that I didn't figure out "who done it" in the first 100 pages. And it gives you twists and turns right up until the end.

Loved it!! Had the same suspense as Gone Girl.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It's a decent enough plot but the protagonist is such an irritating woman I cheered when something terrible happened to her

the most irritating protagonist

Any additional comments?

A nervous, neurotic journalist who writes for a travel magazine gets a plush assignment on a swanky, glitzy ocean cruise. She hears strange noises in the middle of the night. She becomes convinced that the woman in the cabin next door (who bears a striking physical resemblance to her) has been murdered and thrown overboard. Everyone else on the cruise ship thinks she's a drunk wackadoodle. I thought I figured out the big twist in this. Boy, was I wrong. I might've enjoyed this book more if my theory HAD been the plot. I was convinced the protagonist was having a dissociative, psychotic break with reality due to a traumatic experience. Think Madwoman in the Attic, Shutter Island, or Before I Go To Sleep. No such luck. This plot way more ridiculous, oh, you'll be surprised by when the truth is revealed, but not in a good way.

Over-the-top, implausible plot

If you could sum up The Woman in Cabin 10 in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, funny, and suspenseful.

Any additional comments?

I am truly writing this review to comment on Imogen Church's American accent. It was honestly too funny.

Nice!

Very intertaining thanks to the narrator and a good rendition/variation on 'Murder, She Said'. It was just that I wearied from the main character's constant whining. Laura's squeamish/condescending arrogant embracing of ignorance got tedious and I'm not even her therapist. Who in the name of Netflix has never seen a gun used in a movie or on a TV show? Who, if truly fleeing for her life, wouldn't at least take the gun and throw it overboard so the killer couldn't use it on her. This weak, helpless, hapless behavior, from a 30 year old, does not a sequel make.

Am I missing something here?

Great story. Suspense is well done. Definitely recommend and will look for more from this author.

Excellent!

Was slightly confused at the beginning and am glad that I listened with audible instead of reading. The back and forth would have confused me if I was reading it, but was very good story and clever. I would recommend this.

Interesting

Very suspenseful! And a story well told. The only criticism I have is alot of reference to being tired....alot.

Page turner!

I enjoyed the plot and the book kept your attention but it was a bit wordy with descriptions.
