Resumen del Editor

This audiobook exposes coffee's darker side that scientists know, but the coffee industry has tried to suppress. Coffee is highly addictive, offers no nutritional value, and has not been proven safe. The Truth about Coffee uncovers short- and long-term health issues associated with coffee consumption. The audiobook reveals why women should avoid coffee, the role of coffee in adrenal depletion, and how coffee affects pH balance, and ultimately, health. Discover how eliminating coffee from your diet can not only improve your life, but quite possibly save it.

It'll Make You Think

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is very educational and informative. I learned things about coffee I didn't know before and made me glad I stopped drinking it years ago.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

It will make you think before going down to the corner to get coffee.

COFFEE REPLACES BEER AS BREAKFAST DRINK

The above refers to the history of coffee and at one time most people drank beer for breakfast. (OH, the good ole days).

The biggest problem with this book is all the May, might, and could's that are included and the lack of fact. I do not blame the author and am glad she wrote the book. Studies cost a lot of money and many studies are paid for by large corporations. The coffee companies are not going to pay for a study on how coffee is bad for you. Often when you hear on the news that a study showed something is good for you, that can be traced back to a company that will benefit.

If even one of the cancers that the author says could be caused by coffee is true, it is worth giving up. Heart disease seems to be even more likely. I know that coffee causes my blood pressure to go up. I have quit several times, but usually end up going back. I spend hours on the road, love the taste of coffee, and nothing else seems to satisfy. Yet, I went ahead and quit a week ago. If I know it raises my blood pressure, it can't be healthy. Last year at this time I was drinking 40 ounces a day. Months ago, I cut back to 20 ounces and know I have quit it all together. I am lucky, that I have not suffered any side effects. Many people get headaches and/or feel tired. I have not had that problem and have been drinking tea. Tea does not satisfy as well and I still crave coffee, but for my health!

It is not so much the caffeine, but the delivery system. Decaf is even worse for you. This is not a long book and it is worth your time to listen and decide for yourself. It could save your life.

A honest Reaction

Would you consider the audio edition of The Truth about Coffee to be better than the print version?

No

What did you like best about this story?

The in-depth history. It is obvious that the Author did a lot of research and homework understanding the subject matter: Coffee

Have you listened to any of Timothy McKean’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Statistics on the effects on coffee on woman - in particular - pregnant woman.

Any additional comments?

While this book was based mostly on the US market, there are no boundaries pertaining to addictions.
Having suffered some of the problems mentioned in this book, I sat up and paid attention. Until now, I have never thought that coffee could be to blame. With life being a rush, we tend to make excuses for our bad habits - this book opens your eyes to examine your own health matters a little closer.
The information revealed in this book is not unknown, but it is laid out in a manner that makes it easy to understand, relate to and bring you to a decision that only the reader can make for themselves. Marina Kushner provides a service that I am now recommending to my friends and family. "

All coffee drinkers should read this one for sure!

Would you listen to The Truth about Coffee again? Why?

A year or so ago I quit drinking coffee following information I head read on the hazards to your health. Over the last year I slowly slipped back into drinking coffee again, both regular and decaf and it wasn't until I listened to this book that I once again decided to switch from coffee to another hot drink. I need to listen to this audio book from time to time to reinforce my decision to kick this habit.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No favourite character, but the main theme was getting off coffee.

What does Timothy McKean bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I found that I could listen to the book while I was in the kitchen and it made it easy. I might not otherwise take the time to sit down and read due to my many commitments.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes, you wanted to run it from start to finish.

Any additional comments?
