Historia
Difficult people, there are all kinds of them, but they have one thing in common: They make your skin crawl and your life miserable. When you have to cope with someone undermining you or putting you down, it destroys your motivation. You shut down emotionally and lose interest in all those things you liked. You can’t simply run away from them because there will always be others. It’s just a fact of life.

You don't have to be controlled by difficult people! Strange as it may seem, other people are not nearly as committed to our happiness as we are. In fact, sometimes it seems like they’re on a mission to make us miserable! There’s always that one person. The one who hijacks our emotions. The one who seems to thrive on drama. If we could just “fix” that person, everything would be better. But we can’t fix other people. We can only make choices about ourselves.

Resumen del Editor
When slighted, misunderstood, cut in front of, annoyed, taken advantage of, or treated rudely, most people avoid their bosses, ignore coworkers, change hairdressers, complain to friends, pound their fists, or rant on social media. They often miss the most positive, effective alternative of all: confronting positively. Now, for everyone who was never taught or never realized that between "bully" and "wimp" is a range of behavior that is positive, dignified, and effective for dealing with life's bothersome situations, there is The Power of Positive Confrontation.
This book teaches you the vital skills you need to confront others, communicate effectively, and live a more conflict-free life. In this updated edition, communications expert Barbara Pachter shares a practical, step-by-step guide to tackling conflicts in any situation, including a new section on navigating sticky situations online. The Power of Positive Confrontation reveals:
- The consequences of not confronting or of confronting negatively
- How to accurately assess what is bothering you and why
- Three essential steps of polite and powerful confrontationVital verbal and nonverbal skills that make or break communication, including common language pitfalls
- Strategies for assertive communication, whether face to face, in writing, by phone, or online

Should be required reading for every professional
I really appreciate Barbara's no nonsense, direct yet empathic approach to dealing with conflict. I'm glad this book exists, and I hope that more people in the professional world will make use of its principles.

I needed this!
Thank you, Barbara, for such good stories, examples, skills and lessons on how to be polite and powerful. The confidence gleaned will serve me well. I’m more aware of communication choices and look forward to practicing!

An Endless delay to finally get to the point. I gave up on chapter five while she was still talking about how this book will help.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
I got to chapter 7 and still was not told HOW to confront people positively. All this author has been doing was giving a bunch of examples about passivity and passive aggressiveness but NEVER the HOW which is WHY I bought this book.
She developed some test to figure out if someone had problems with confronting but HELLO???!!! If I bought the book I ALREADY know I have a problem !!!
I really wanted to give this book the benefit of the doubt but by the time she gave the 1,001 examples of what NOT to do and it was already chapter 7 —- I gave up !!! I just can’t !!!
Note to author:
You don’t need so many examples to emphasize your points. Just say your points and give one or two. Otherwise rename the book to say EXAMPLES of NOT Confronting
