A smart and delightful romantic comedy featuring fabulous female friendships and "a great love story." --Jasmine Guillory, bestselling author of Party of Two Samiah Brooks never thought she would be "that" girl. But a live tweet of a horrific date just revealed the painful truth: she's been catfished by a three-timing jerk of a boyfriend. Suddenly Samiah -- along with his two other "girlfriends," London and Taylor -- have gone viral online. Now the three new besties are making a pact to spend the next six months investing in themselves. No men and no dating. For once Samiah is putting herself first, and that includes finally developing the app she's always dreamed of creating. Which is the exact moment she meets the deliciously sexy Daniel Collins at work. What are the chances? But is Daniel really boyfriend material or is he maybe just a little too good to be true? "The Boyfriend Project is rom-com joy... Rochon's warmth and easy humor sing off the pages, but the book also has plenty to say: about female friendships, about showing up for each other, about trust, and about racism. ...Rochon is incisively funny, gifted at winging between laugh-out-loud scenarios, crackling banter, and pointed social commentary. The Boyfriend Project is vibrantly realized, a modern-day tale with real-world stakes that will leave you giggling and swooning from cover to cover. Grade: A"—Entertainment Weekly

Perfect romcom - this is the kind of fun romance Netflix or HBO should pick up! Liked the narration and pacing too. Ms. Rachon got it right!

my feelings were mixed. The characters were great - very strong females and I loved that our heroine was a talented programmer. I also liked the emphasis on female friendship. The narrator did a great job giving all the characters distinct voices. the main drawback was that the internal monologues of our main characters were incredibly repetitive. when I was hearing them explain to themselves for the 30th time all the reasons they shouldn't date each other, it got a little frustrating.

Great characters but repetitive internal monologue

I enjoyed this book. It took me a few chapters to really get into the story. It’s a slow moving journey, but I was happy to be along for the ride.

The storyline is ok and fairly predictable. My issue with this audiobook is the narrator. Within 30 seconds of listening to it, I wanted to stop it. Her voice is not right for this story. She sounded like a news anchor trying to tell a story. I eventually got used to it, but it was really hard in the beginning.

The Boyfriend Project is a fun, upbeat, modern read about Samiah, who finds out she and two other women have been "catfished" by a guy they met through an online dating app. The three women, though, hit it off, and become good friends who make this pact that they are each going to focus on themselves and their goals and swear off men for at least 6 months. This is of course when Daniel shows up as the new guy at Samiah's work, all tall, dark, smart and handsome. They have major chemistry, but both have their reasons for keeping each other at arm's length.

I really enjoyed this book, if not for the romance (which was good), for the friendships between these three women who connected over the bizarrest of circumstances. It was so much fun to read the scenes with these three together. Then there was Daniel. I really liked his back story and his sort of secret life. It was something new that I haven't read before. Very cool.

Overall, it was a fun, light-hearted, and non-angsty read, great for summer-time by the beach.
