just as good as the first

I really liked the first book of the series. It showed you a new world with neat new rules, was an urban fantasy novel, something I have grown to love, and had a neat LitRPG aspect as the characters get stronger and talk about their stats. The first book was in a nice and tidy package of a tournament, giving it a very good structure to follow.

This book thankfully took a turn away from the tournament so as not to just be a repeat of the first, but it did seem to struggle at the beginning. It just didn't seem to be going anywhere, and just followed the protagonist thru his life as he searches for a new job and apartment, something that doesn't exactly make for a good book. Once that developed a bit, it really turned into a good book.

soooo.... it starts a little slow, but is just as good as the last one, without being a boring repeat. Highly suggested.

Feels like "Attack of the Clones" of the trilogy!

It has a solid performance, just like the last one. However, the plot of tge book feels unfocused. Often, it is unclear what the main character really hopes to achieve. is it to become strong, to stay safe, to get rich? He even approaches romance in such a wishy washy way that it feels like he should just abstain. Not in a passive way, but rather hang a sign around his neck saying he is incapable of feeling said emotions. That said, there are some neat world building moments and cool fight scenes. Just wish the author would kill off the MC and make his sister the new MC.

really loved this book. im not gonna get into it but some of the tips really saw some flaws in my teqs, and took away from some of them and made me understand my nature a lot more, and …..just awesome,keep up the work, and I know you will make it....well more you know,.....ya so it helped a lot, so make sure you keep the awesome work homie, and I know you will go far sis

I recommend this book

I've enjoyed the trilogy quite a bit. I'm not particularly excited about one element of the story but it's something that I've come to expect when it comes to trilogies of this nature. personally I would prefer the singular love interest. it's expected and I'm definitely not going to knock the author even if it had it been as this has more to do with personal taste. that being said is rather nitpicky and the only thing that I didn't like about the story. so for the record I enjoyed 99% of the rest of it. our hero has gotten himself into a heap of trouble but considering his run of good luck it was only a matter of time. that's sad there's only one more book but I'm looking forward to it and will be moving on to it as soon as I'm done with this review. the narrator has done a fantastic job as always. and I'll just say Well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us the audible listeners.

More sleep deprivation for me as I just can't stop listening to these books! Fun developments for the MC.

Great modern fantasy story

Rick really becomes a man in this book, in book one he had growth but man in this one he's not just getting stronger but smarter!!

Great stuff

Great writing, personable characters and real relationships between characters. If anything the development of the characters is a tiny bit vague.

The real life aspect, backed up by a very well written story arcs makes this one of the best books in my library.

Definitely worth the credit, I really enjoyed this.

Sarah Lynn wrote another good continuation on this book. do you like the first one you like this one to set of a tournament there is more of a twisted to this one. the one added benefit to this book is Terry baldree. He makes every book twice as enjoyable. so much so that I give books a chance just because he's narrator.

This book is very enjoyable. The only thing that I didn’t like(and another person mentioned this) is that you can tell the author is purposely fighting against the op Mc trope as well as others. The book is still great but there were several missed opportunities. One dealing with a cloud wolf but oh well. Still great

Rick is a charming main character

Rick is one of the best MCs in Litrpg because he’s so real and down to earth. A nice guy that is no pushover. Sarah Lin is a great writer and I like how she writes romance or sister arcs that doesn’t feel formulaic. Looking forward to more of this series.
