Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Alcohol is a powerfully addictive drug, and not the harmless social pleasantry that the marketing would have you believe. Willpower on its own has a 95% chance of failure. Quitting alcohol can be difficult unless you get the tools to help you reprogram your subconscious mind. This is the most forceful version of my stop drinking hypnosis range. Designed for people who are adamant that they want alcohol out of their life forever.

Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home, and a successful media career; a director of several companies and at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful and functioning professional man in spite of a ‘two-bottles-of-wine-a-night" drinking habit. For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed.

Historia
We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

Historia
What could possibly be “lucky” about addiction? Absolutely nothing, thought Laura McKowen when drinking brought her to her knees. As she puts it, she “kicked and screamed . . . wishing for something - anything - else” to be her issue. The people who got to drink normally, she thought, were so damn lucky. But in the midst of early sobriety, when no longer able to anesthetize her pain and anxiety, she realized that she was actually the lucky one. Lucky to feel her feelings, live honestly, really be with her daughter, change her legacy.

Listen for Emotional Mastery and Inner Peace
I love the approach this audiobook takes, it’s not about suppressing emotions but mastering them, which really resonates with my stoic nature. As someone involved in Al-Anon, I can’t recommend the meditations in this audiobook enough. They’ve been a lifeline for staying grounded and finding peace, especially when life gets chaotic, and old patterns try to creep back in. The guidance is practical and soothing, making it easy to integrate into daily life. If you’re seeking emotional balance and clarity, this audiobook is a great companion.

Clear headed productivity and path finding
Sobriety, I think, is a noble undertaking in a day and age where alcohol is not only celebrated in and of itself (just flip through TV channels to see wave after wave of vodka and whisky commercials, etc), but used as a tool for virtually every human celebration we can imagine. And a buzz in the moment, in my opinion, is no match for a life of clear headedness, productivity, and a focus towards one’s aspirations and life purpose. Sean Alexander does a fantastic job of encapsulating a similar perspective but offers a stoic edge to sobriety–something I had not come across before but am sure to use as a focal point for future sober living. Alexander offers listeners a myriad of tools to implement to keep them on a focused path, but also, to my joy, added a ton of meditations, which, again in my opinion, is one of the key methods to reprogramming one’s synaptic connections, and this is pretty imperative if one is to get sober and stay sober. My personal favorite takeaway from this title is the emphasis of bringing about a sense of encouragement and inspiration within the listener and, as Alexander states, sobriety is the path to true wealth. If you’re interested in what this truly means, then listen on.

Honest and helpful
This audiobook is an honest look at the experience of someone who battled the issue and came out the other side by delving into the practice of Stoicism. I did not truly understand stoic meditation until listening to this audiobook, and I found this resource to be an excellent guide in that regard. This book will change lives, as it goes beyond saying just avoid triggers and build resilience. It gets to the heart of deep reflection, true introspection. If you're even a little concerned about your alcohol intake and looking to cut back, or you've hit rock bottom and your problem is apparent, you will learn something from this book.
