“What darkness within the Labyrinth awaits?”
After defeating the Shadow King and opening the gateway to the mysterious Labyrinth of Onizoso, Reece's hopes are dashed when a surprise attack leaves his girlfriend's life hanging in the balance.
To save her, Reece and his friends must enter the labyrinth in hopes of finding the one person who may be able to bring her back to life...but in a place where players turn into Shard Wraiths, their hopes may already be lost.
Now Reece will have to navigate a strange new world fraught with dangers, while fending off a pursuing army and racing against the clock. And with his arch nemesis lurking just outside, the labyrinth might be only the start of his troubles.
To protect the ones he loves, Reece will have to challenge both his fears and principles, or risk losing everything and becoming a Shard Wraith himself.
But the Labyrinth holds many dark secrets, and what he discovers within may not only change the outcome of their mission, but redefine the very nature of the game world itself.

All in all this is a very enjoyable series that doesn't have a bunch of useless sex scenes or swearing or anything else like that. the hero in the story is actually a hero, and that's rare these days with anti-heros and "bad guy" characters being all the rage these days.
The author doesn't seem to be making any political statements or pushing any agenda's either, just a good story with good characters, and a solid plot line.
dont believe the reviews, whole book is good!

There are a few instances of repeated alerts, sometimes eight or nine times, I.e. “you have picked up a copper coin, you have picked up a copper coin....” instead of “8 copper coins.”
These books could use some better editing and the narrator stumbles a little, but overall, the story is quite intriguing. It’s like a LitRPG version of Red Rising as far as the base poly goes.
Again it’s not the best LitRPG out there but imo worth the credits. I’ll be staying with the series.
Good but not great

The entire party essentially doesn't trust each other. In every engagement, when a party member makes a move, one or more other party members stop everything to get a detailed explanation of their actions. Even after weeks of teaming up, they still don't learn to anticipate their team mates or focus on their own part of a mission. This is particularly infurriatingly unbelievable when under a very tight time crunch, they all keep pausing to discuss everything. The author also seems to do this for tension in exposition but there are better ways to do this without making you grind your teeth while screaming "you don't have time for this!" in your head for the 5th time in the past 2 chapters. The author could have just mentioned that they all kept running during the discussion and this issue would go away for 6 or 7 incidents.
I only find these issues problematic because the party is supposed to be made up of elite gamers who are supposed to know the tactics around their skills and spells, solo and grouped. Even though the MC hasn't been playing nearly as long as the others, the team should be able to identify his mistakes and give pointers and feedback on performance (this never happens), especially when their lives and the lives of everyone they know are at stake, "Hey, I notices that's the third time today you didn't start battle with your signature spell that makes your class so important and it almost killed you. Maybe you should not do that, you know, since like the human race is relying on you for their survival." I mean the MC agonizes over the unforeseen concequences of 1 decision but fails to see any significance in his cronic failure to use the standard tactics of his class. This is made more unbelievable by the fact they are all supposed to feel pain when hit and yet the MC still seems to not take these repeated forgetful mistakes seriously.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the series and am the middle of relistening before starting book 5. I don't clearly remember the series from the last time I listened so I'm hoping that these issues are part of a longer character growth and maturation arc and disappear at some point.
Some simple, persistent issues keep it 4 starts
