Swoony and heartfelt narration

I'm so obsessed with this series and am hardcore in my Ava Hunter era. I made NO secret about Tame the Heart being a top 2023 read, so I was THIRSTY for the return to Runaway Ranch. One of my MOST anticipated 2024 reads is finally here, and y’all I am obsessed! I just had to wait to post a pic of my beautiful paperback for my review- because I am ridiculously in love with the Runaway Ranch series! And Ava packs all the heart and heat in Rope the Moon. It’s addictively angsty and suspenseful, adorably sweet, character rich, and so emotionally engaging! I was swept away by this charming and dynamic story of second chances.

Davis. Our mercurial, stoic, broody ex-marine turned cowboy. I knew from the moment we met him that his story was going to squeeze my heart like no other. And Ava does NOT disappoint. Davis is everything! A bit broken but big hearted, possessive and ultra protective, generous and dependable. He’s a man who will not only claim the girl but also her unborn child…when he’s not the father. There are not words to describe my love for this man, but oh lawdy is he delicious. And I love his contrasts- he’s gritty but also kind, edgy and broody but can also be tender, stoic but also devoted and adoring. The hurt and healing parts of him I felt in my soul- he’s every bit as dreamy as I imagined. The way he woos and cares for Dakota. Melts. AND the mouth on him! Melting hearts and panties. Swoon. And Dakota- my goodness what a force she is. A heroine you root for, vulnerable but with a quiet strength. She’s been through so much, and I loved her big heart.

Y’all- this is second chance done right! The emotional connection, the history, the re-learning one another, they way they already have a bit of a rhythm but are unsure all at once. I adore how they see one another…how Davis makes Dakota feel cared for, safe, important…and strong. How Dakota helps him see he’s worth choosing and loving. HOw they both help the other out of their emotional isolation and solitude. The hope they find in their connection. It’s not all easy- there’s some barriers in the way both internally and externally, and the suspense and dash of angst really keep the pages turning. It’s a beautiful story of hope and reconnection…but most of all, of finding yourself and your place.


I ADORED these two together- the chemistry is mesmerizingly charming. AND we have all of our favorite secondary characters running around my favorite ranch. This story lived up to all my longing and hype- still so in love with this world!

Narrators were fantastic- Jason Clarke is the PERFECT Davis- so dreamy. And Emma Wilder always brings so much heart to every performance. Dual style but great chemistry,
