Great start to this series!

Reckless Hope is book #1 in the new Reckless series. Nyssa Kathryn knows exactly how to tug on your heartstrings, make you laugh with the family banter, binge to the end to find out who did it,then steam up the sheets with the spice! Harper Rain is running from her sh!tshow of a life and lands at Cody Walker's bar...with a black eye. At first sight, he's pronounced himself her protector and is doing all he can to show her not every man is out to hurt her. But Cody's past comes back to threaten them and Harper's past is hot on her heels. Cody has a bunch of single brothers and a sister, so I KNOW we're in for some great stories! The narration was a shining point for sure. Jason Clarke and Avery Caris (enough said??) brought the big guns for this one. Growly, broody Cody and Harper were voice to perfection by this duo. 5 binge-worthy stars!!

A great start to a new series

The narrators were perfection. I truly feel that Jason Clarke can do no wrong haha. Avery Caris is amazing. I love her voice. Having both Jason and Avery in this story was the best combo!

• Thoughts:
Nyssa! Nyssa, Nyssa, Nyssa. She did it again, another great start to what I know will be a great series. We met Cody in Liam's story. So we know Cody and His brothers have a protective streak that is a mile long. Cody does not disappoint he is fierce and protective of Harper. He does not question his attraction to her either. It was instant and I love it. We get some twists and turns in this story. And just like many if Nyssa 's books. I had this book read in a few days. I always end her books feeling happy and good. So excited for the rest of this series in Mystic Peak.

Book 1 of the Reckless Series is perfect!

The Walker brother’s and Mystic Peak have gotten my attention, for sure!
Nobody better than Jason Clarke and Avery Caris to bring us this new series! Jason does an incredible job as Cody and his voice fits perfect. Avery gives us a perfect Harper visual!

We met Cody in Blue Halo when his twin Nylah went to Cradle Mountain and met her partner, Liam with Blue Halo, so I am thrilled that we get his book first!

Harper, running from her past life and her family finds herself low on funds and just plan exhausted, needing a place to stop and rest she pulls into a bar parking lot hoping someone can help her find a hotel for the night. Disheveled, cold, and bruised, Harper goes in looking for assistance, little did she know exactly what she found that night until much later.
Cody could tell she was desperate but he saw the bruising around her eye and knew she was running from something but he didn’t know what. Seeing her vulnerable, and needing help, he offered her the job he has open at the bar in hopes to keep her around. What Cody couldn’t understand was how someone he just met get such a strong hold on him and his heart.

Nyssa Kathryn does it again! She has found not only characters but circumstances that suck us inside her books! I can’t wait to see how Kayden and Tilly work out their situation next in Reckless Trust!

A wonderful start to the series

Once again this author delivers a story that has heart, substance, and wonderful characters in this first audiobook of the new series.
To say that Harper Rain has had a tough life, is putting it mildly. When she finds herself at her wits end, she leaves everything behind and with little money ends up in Misty Peak during a storm.
The only lights on the street are in a bar and she goes there in hopes of finding a referral to a cheap motel.
When she enters and meets a gorgeous and enormous man, she never would have predicted what would come after.
Cody Walker , owner of the bar, was once a Delta Force operator and returned home to help his dying father. He is a protector by nature and when Harper arrives at the bar, with a black eye and in need of help, he doesn’t hesitate to give it.
From that moment on, the attraction intensifies, but so do the attacks and the danger surrounding Harper.
In this engaging plot there was never a dull moment. Lots of guessing whodunit, and wondering what would happen next.
The main characters as well as the secondary ones were well developed.
If you are familiar with the author’s Blue Helo series, Liam makes an appearance and his person, Nylah, is Cody’s sister.
A great start to the series. Can’t wait for the next story .
The narrators Avery Caris and Jason Clarke did an excellent job with the various voices.

Cody & Harper!

As soon as I heard about this, I could not wait for the chance to listen. Nyssa Kathryn quickly became one of my favorite romantic suspense authors and this story is no exception. Meet Cody, Nylah's twin who I mt in Blue Halo #8. No, you don't have to listen to the Blue Halo series, but it is so good, you will definitely want to! And what a man! When Harper bumps into Cody, she is a mess. No money to her name, no place to stay and a black eye, Cody's protective gene pops into action and he begins his mission to take care of her. Little does she know, his instant attraction and kindness is just what she needs. Harper has had it tough, and now on the run and trying to figure out how to start life over and stay under the radar is a hard task. But she is finding all of the people in Mystic Peak to be helpful and loving. Exactly the kind of town she would love to be in. But will the danger she is running to stay away? Nyssa Kathryn knows how to capture my attention and keep it. This town is all about family, the characters are sweet and lovable, protective and the kind I would want surrounding me. Plus the cupcakes! That is a huge bonus! The suspense stays high and trying to figure out who is creating the trouble had me wondering til the end. Loved this start to the new series and can't wait to hear Tilly and Kayden's story!

Jason Clarke and Avery Caris bring the story alive with a thrilling narration. Clarke plays the swoony Cody with all the warmth and protective vibes. Caris comes in with the hesitancy that Harper has, but has her heart slowly melting. Together they build the suspense, keep it high and at the same time give all the romantic feelings. Loved this!

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Emotional!

Nyssa Kathryn pens another amazing novel, a small-town romantic suspense that not only captivates your attention the entire time, but tugs at your heartstrings too. It is an original story with multiple layers and complex characters, and the suspenseful elements are intriguing. Harper Rain was not born into the best of families with a father is in prison for assaulting her, a mother who has checked out into many bottles of alcohol and a brother that is a complete loser. She started working when she was a teenager and has been saving up to pursue her goals and dreams, which were all taken away when her mother emptied her bank account. All fed up, Harper fled, taking her car and the bare minimum, leaving everything else behind. Driving for too long, she stops at a small town called Misty Peak. It was late in the evening and the only business open was the bar, Cody Walker’s bar. Cody, former Delta Forces, recognizes that Harper is in some sort of trouble, and being protective in nature, he is careful to not scare her away. He connects her with a friend who has rental cabins, so she has a place to stay. After she left he was not sure he would see her again, but fate had other plans. Changing her mind about putting more distance between her and her family, she stays in Misty Peak, and asks about the job offering in the bar, and despite her lack of experience, he hires her and Harper winds up fitting right in with the locals. Then her past comes back to haunt her, and there has been trouble brewing in Misty Peak before she arrived, trouble that is escalating. I loved how everything played out in this book, and watching Cody and Harper’s budding relationship grow and trying to figure out who was behind everything going on in Misty Peak and the threats made against Harper. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. The story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Avery Caris and Jason Clarke were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, understood who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound, Clarke as the swoon worthy Cody and Caris nailed it as Caris, both grasping every side of their character’s personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates this already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another fantastic listen. 

Where has Nyssa been my whole life?

This is the first book I've read by Nyssa Katherine. And she blew me away.
Reckless Hope tells the story of Cody, the overprotective, swoony, fmr military bar owner in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and Harper, the sweet yet strong FMC with a troubled past that follows her even after she ran away.
I love the small town vibe that Nyssa created. While there are always busy bodies that are in everyone's business, there are also those who welcome people in as their found family.
We are taken on a beautiful journey of the love that Cody and Harper find in each other. There is suspense, there is sweetness, swoony moments and super spicy spice.
Narrators Jason Clark and Avery Caris were perfection as Cody and Harper. While I'm already a huge fan of their respective work, they blew my away with this book. Jason had me clutching my heart with how sweet he portrayed Cody and the range of emotions he brought to the role.
Avery pulled at my heartstrings in every scene Harper experienced heartbreak. Both actors gave absolutely incredible performances.
The epilogue hinted at the characters to be featured in book two and I. Cannot. Wait.
While this was my first Nyssa Katherine book, it is most definitely not the last.

Protector Hero; damsel in continuous distress

Harper, a young woman from a terrible family, who has abused her, runs as far as she can from them[from AL to TN], after a blow up and learning that her criminal father, who she helped to put in jail years ago, is getting out. Unfortunately, her money and means don't take her far enough; fortunately, she does get as far as Misty Peak, where she runs into a bar, and straight into the interest and protective demeanor of Cody Walker.

Cody, of the Walker clan, who are many brothers (all military, rescue, or lawmen) and 1 sister (Cody's twin, from Liam), stays close to Harper, giving her a job and directing her to a place to stay, until she starts to let him in. He knows he wants Harper, but he also knows gaining her trust and being a support is what he has to start with first. He also has to swallow the pill that he can't stop everything from happening to her, though each time Harper gets hurt, Cody promises "it'll never happen again." UGH

In all, the suspense wasn't well executed, and all of the attacks on Harper and the solution to protecting her from her family were put to rest; however, some elements of it just came either as "no surprise," for the reader, or did not hit the way the author might have intended them to. Plus, the cliched OW drama on Cody's side could have been left out....Really.

It is a typical small town romance, and the characters , not the plot, save it. The Walker clan are ride-or-die, and Harper does not try to run again, after her initial skittishness; she tries to stick with Cody, with what they are growing. Nevertheless, it's formulaic because the ending epilogue is just the prologue to the next Walker brother's HEA story.
