Much darker tone
Still very enjoyable however the drastic shift in tone is a bit jarring. Six different individuals got tortured throughout the course of this story on separate occasions. Once or twice is whatever but after the third it starts to feel cliche. Also felt like some plot hooks could have been handled better. A big villain getting dealt with abruptly in a single sentence is unsatisfying.

love the manga and anime but this writing.
I'm shocked at how poorly this was written as a novel. the mangas adaptation definitely fixes the poor jump backs and poor character development. the poor instant deep connections with no depth of building character. and truly poorly written combat scenes left me wanting and disappointed. beautiful story ideal but poorly executed.
