Resumen del Editor

Abigail Fine learned early in life it's hard to get ahead when you start with nothing. She hoped serving as a surrogate would allow her to not only help a friend, but jump-start living her own dreams.

Jonah Rollins always considered himself a loyal friend and an honorable man - until he made a decision that destroyed a long-standing friendship and eventually his marriage.

When life threw her a curveball, Abby did the only thing she knew how to: the right thing. Her life might look a whole lot different than she imagined, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

Now, five years later, the past has come calling. Life has presented Abby with an even bigger challenge: one that will test her capacity to forgive...or force her to close her heart forever.

But Abby and Jonah just might discover there are no bounds to how wide her heart can open or how deep his love can run.

An Unexpected Delight with one issue

I really enjoyed this story. Abby and Jonah both had issues that they needed to work through and luckily they were.

One issue that I had with the story was that for the size of the town, it had more schools that is even reasonable. I think that more research could have been done on that regard, but otherwise I really enjoyed the story.

Another issue, was that some of the miscommunication I felt could have been cleared up sooner.

The narrator is really good, and I have really enjoyed her in other stories she’s narrated.

I really enjoyed the ending when Jonah said his dreams came true.

This is my first Cindy Kirk book, and I will certainly read more in the future.

4 Stars.

One Find Series

I am a Cindy Kirk fan. I looked forward to starting another one of her series. This did not disappoint. She fleshes out the characters so well that readers can't help but fall in love with Abby, the surrogate that kept the pregnancy, or feel miserable toward her best friend Jonah and his wife who chose to abort the pregnancy and then gave up on their marriage. What a unique situation set up by Kirk to explore with the readers. The loyalty and family unit are strong themes; valuing a child who may be born with some physical struggles at birth was important to give attention. The strength, bravery, and purpose that fueled Abby's mothering made her a believable character. Readers can feel proud of Jonah for sending support money, but even more when he arrives to become a part of his little girl's life should send up a slow cheer. Sitting down with this book, was like sitting on the porch waiting to gab about the teens who grew into flawed, but willing to change adults and watching them flourish. I highly recommend this Hazel Green series.
