Still worth it

The slow burning was worth it. This is my first book by Nan Campbell and I really loved her writing. Makes me think about my parents absent love during my childhood. Loved to read more of this author. And I loved the MC as well as the other characters too, everyone has a role to play! I liked Lula Larkin but she wasn’t as great as this book deserves. I think it was the yelling that I disliked so it took me a while to get into it! However this book is still worth listening too.

This book kept me well engaged. from beginning to end. Nan Campbell is an excellent writer, and Lula Larkin is a fabulous narrator

Great Slow Burn

OK, Most of the time slow burns get on my nerves and I am like "just kiss already." 💋 Not with this story. The way the author adds in back story with raising the stakes, I could not wait to see what happened next. I listened to it all in one go. I can't wait to see what else this author brings to Audible.

The narration was awesome. I could easily distinguish which character was speaking and the kids voice was good too.

These two make a good team

Slow Burn 🔥

This was a great story line with lots of character depth and development. I appreciated that there wasn't so much focus on sexy time scenes but the development of two MCs falling in love.

A Truly Blended Family

This isn't really a taboo story and has multiple tropes. There is definitely angst as the main characters work through their issues and feelings for one another. The secondary characters are supportive and add to the family story. Good narration and you can tell which character is speaking in a consistent manner. Nan Cambell is a new author for me and and I enjoyed listening to this book.

A new favorite!

I'm not a huge fan of the fake relationship trope, although it can be very enjoyable. This book just about changed my mind about the trope. I loved this book! I listened to the audiobook, and the author has a gifted way with words, and the narrator was perfect! She injected so much emotion into the story, and all the characters had their own voices. I'm so glad I own this audiobook, because I think it will become a frequent repeat listen. I had wished the main characters would have talked more, but I totally understand why they didn't, due to circumstances and their personalities, etc. I think I have a bit of a book hangover. I really just want to keep spending time with these people. This is a new author for me, and a new narrator, so I'll have to find other books by the author and audiobooks by the narrator. This (audio)book definitely has my endorsement. Just buy it, you won't regret it!

Very good story

This was a very good story! The relationship between the two MCs was very sweet once they let defenses down. Louis was adorable! Tally was an angsty teen but sweet. The premise of the book was interesting. Davie’s bosses were a bit boorish but once they got with the program they were cute, especially Roland.

Lula Larkin was excellent as the narrator of the story. All the nuances of the characters. From the little adorable boy to the curmudgeonly old equity partners of the firm.

All in all, an excellent story!

I love this book so much. Davy and Anna are perfect together and they make a beautiful family complete.

Loved it!

I enjoyed this book so much I could start it again! Not only were the writing and story great, but the dialogue sizzled. And I dare you not to fall for both of the main characters. I happen to like slow burns and books without the needless misunderstandings, so this was an ideal book for me. I look forward to more of this author’s work. Also, Lula Larkin did a fabulous job on narration!!! She knows how to bring a story and characters to life.

New Author for me: Recommend

I really enjoyed this book. It’s not a new trope, but the spin was different enough that it was refreshing. There wasn’t so much drama that an anxiety attack was triggered! I found the writing to be very good and Lula Larkin does an excellent job voicing the characters and mood of the story. I could have kept listening for days!
