Resumen del Editor

Darkness seeps deeper into the world. The gods can only watch from afar. Time is running out.

Jim and his friends found a way to stop the evil infesting the leadership of the Empire, but the shadows of the world are not all cast by the demon incursion. There's plenty of darkness already dwelling within the corrupted heart of the Empire.

One of the team goes missing, and Jim has to find them before it’s too late. They have a chance to reach the Western Province before the nox infection spreads, but having the entire team is paramount to their success. They'll have to find a way to come together, or risk the Empire sinking completely into the darkness.

No pressure, it's just the fate of the world.

Better than book 2

Light reading where everything that can go wrong inevitable does go wrong but still manages to work out with the MC overpowered.

one big sin

so in the third book the author has committed the sin of changing the magic system in such a way that people can make an unbreakable oath AND always prove when they are telling the truth. In such a world, there would be no lies betrayals and the plot of the first 2 books doesn't make any sense. other than that it is a good book.

strong feelings about xianxia/cultivation

first of if you are going to read a xianxia cultivation book the one thing a true fan of the genre never says is "the mc is too powerful" so if you don't like op mcs then find another genre. the fantasy world genres are filled to the brim with weak, stupid, win every fight with luck and plot armor main characters for you to enjoy. however we fans of op mcs have only 1 genre to call home xianxia cultivation novels are basically the only books we have to enjoy.
speaking of op mcs I don't know if I can say this book has one. it does but doesn't. I guess I just expected more from a reincarnated soul that reached the peak of power and got sent back to the start with 650 years of knowledge. he is still a he has gone from a brain cultivator to a saint cultivator (one level) in THREE NOVELS. he wins every fight with "trap plates" "poppers" or the ultimate attack "chi threads" but that makes me wonder why is he able to utterly destroy a high saint cultivator two days after reincarnating with those threads but four years later just barely squeek by the pirate that is one stage above that? the inconsistencies are driving me crazy. one minute he is awesome then the next he is weak af. also aren't there only supposed to be 200 demons on an entire continent? howsoeshe keep randomly running into them?

Michael Head has done it again!

TL;DR: Just buy the damned book, it’s great!

Yet another fantastic entry in a series by a fairly new author. Jim is still a lovable, loot-hoarding, murderhobo, dedicated to defeating an otherworldly evil that continues to make his days unpleasant, while generally making him filthy rich (and/or powerful) in the process.

That being said, it’s a lot of fun to read, the characters are well done, the subtle poking fun of the genre makes me chuckle, and overall, this is a great entry in the series, and I highly anticipate the next one!

P.S. Travis does an excellent job narrating:
very immersive.
much narrate.
wow.

Great addition to the series!

This series is one of the most successful reincarnation cultivation series that I have encounter. The characters are diverse and interesting. The plot is engaging and promises more to come. The writing is fun with brutal moments. It even has Travis Baldree, like any good cultivation book should! Baldree is truly the voice of cultivation to me.

Enjoyed this more than the first!

Fun story with lots of room to grow in sequels. Fantastic narration and looking forward to seeing where "Jim" goes next.

Kinda weird

I love strong protagonists in the stories I listen to. This protagonist is supposed be be strong but also weak at the same time so it rubs me the wrong way. Also don’t care for the secondary characters he is running around with. Personally, the author could send them back to their clan and it would make the story better. Also the main character could be less hypocritical as he is judging a lot of folks and executing them, but he is the main cause of the problem in the story. The power levels could be worked on too because the MC can just fight toe to toe with people that are supposed to be 4-6 power stages stronger than him and he beats them too. I know he has expertise but as some point the power has to trump the experience.
