I loved the fact that you as a reader are part of the book and that the main characters are acknowledging your presence. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one to come out.

Immersive on another level!

Loved the readers/listeners part in this!! As a reader, I always place myself in the FMC’s role to be “immersed” in the story but with this, I already had a “role”. It was a little confusing at first to figure out how the reader/listener played in to the story but as you get further in, it becomes clearer.

The story is unique and definitely enjoyable in my opinion. Always keeping you on your toes and by the end you’re gasping names and theories because there’s so much at play in this world. Overall, LOVED it and cannot wait for the second book!

RECOMMENDATION:
Highly recommend for someone looking for a read divergent, unique and blazing. There are a total of 4 main characters, 2 couples, with one of those people being YOU… the reader! The audiobook makes it even more special because Teddy Hamilton narrates in the second person and is speaking directly to you! This book is a dark paranormal romance and I enjoyed it a lot!Ends in a cliffhanger!

This book is a dark paranormal romance. The POV is written in the first-person and uniquely in the second-person. The POV changes by chapter between all 3 of the MC’s. Tropes include the MMC falls for YOU-the reader, forced proximity, shadow daddy, possessive love, demonic possession, and touch her & die. The page count is 272.
 
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW & TIME LENGTH:
This audiobook is sensational and is done in duet-style narration. The MMC, Cade, that is done in the second-person is narrated by Teddy Hamilton. Callisto is narrated by MK Blackwood. Alabaster is narrated by Christian Leatherman. The audiobook version of this story is truly the best way to experience it. The narrators are phenomenal and they do such an amazing job immersing us into this story. It is right at 8 hours and 20 minutes in length.
 
MMC:
The MMC is Cade Holloway, 29 years old and is the older brother of the FMC-Callisto. Cade grew up in a cult called The Order of the Covenant. After fleeing the Order with Callisto, he is forever a protector of her and a hunter of those who are trying to harm her. Always taking care of her, he has no time for himself… until a little ghost comes along (you, the reader) and shows him he is not alone and that maybe, just maybe, magic is real. *There is Spicy-time with you as the ghost and Cade*
 
FMC:  
The FMC is Callisto Holloway, 21 years old and the younger sister of the MMC-Cade. Callisto, or “Calli,” was also raised in The Order. After fleeing, she is struggling to understand her power. She is stuck inside with absolutely no life while in hiding from The Order. She is very worried about her brother getting taken, hurt or killed while out hunting and tries to summon a protective charm. I believe this is how Alabaster is inadvertently summoned.
 
MMC:
The second MMC is Alabaster, a demonic presence accidentally summoned by Callisto. He is infatuated with her at first sight.He is the definition of a shadow daddy. His origins are a mystery and a lot is still not known. I believe we will get more during book 2. There is another entity similar to him that shows up and tries to “police” Alabaster, telling him he is breaking the rules with Callisto, but he does not care. His personality is fun and his relationship with Callisto is definitely entertaining.
 
STORYLINE/PLOT:
Cade and Callisto fled The Order of the Covenant once they realized Callisto was meant to be sacrificed for her magical powers and they’ve spent ever since hiding her from them. Cade is trying to hunt and kill every single leader of the cult so his sister will never again be at risk for sacrifice… so they can live without fear. His best friend Jack is a tech guy, lives with them and has a liking of Callisto. They’ve got a history Cade doesn’t know about, but they are just friends now and have been for years. Jack helps Cade immeasurably, doing ninja stuff with a computer.
 
With Callisto’s magic growing, changing and causing havoc, things begin to get more complicated. Cade had zero belief of anything magical, but his beliefs are severely challenged as the story progresses. Callisto is given more freedom and is growing her relationship with Alabaster. There is more going on with The Order than they know. There are some serious twists and turns and the story ends on a pretty brutal cliffhanger!

Note:
I did notice the part of the story that was marketed heavily was a much smaller part of the story than it seemed it would be; the part where the reader is the love interest. Did I feel let down because of it, no. I enjoyed the book regardless. Just something to note.

its much better as a audiobook

so, I have mixed reviews. i pre-order the book to read on my kindle. I read up to chapter 25 and I was honestly disappointed. I didnt feel connected to the characters and it felt rushed. I was more interested and connected to the FMC and her love interest. when this was advertised it was supposed to be about you the reader being the love interest of the main character. but lets all be honest here. Cade was not the main character in this book. his sister was and quite frankly Alabaster more so even then Cade. so that left me feeling very disappointed. I just couldn't get into it. so I figured I would listen to the Audio book. now the story is still mainly about the sister and her demon, but Having Cade actually talk to you and hearing his thoughts was a lot easier to get connected to him rather than reading it. The voice actors were all very top notch. loved them! So I would recommend this as an audio book and audio book only. Not a great read, but a fun, albeit very rushed romance, book to listen to. I do hope that the future of the series gives Cade more time, or even just his book like I thought this was supposed to be in the first place. That would be fantastic. really delve into the bond between you and him and his life. Thats my review for this. Needs a lot of work, alittle rushed, not a great read, but a fun listen.
