From beloved inaugural Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner, an uplifting memoir about a fresh start after heartbreak and a peek behind the reality TV curtain.

When his high school sweetheart and wife of over forty years passed away unexpectedly, Gerry Turner’s life was indelibly changed. In that moment, his and Toni’s shared vision of living out their retirement together was shattered. In the wake of this profound loss, Gerry had to move forward—for himself, for his daughters, and for Toni.

After years of grieving and uneven healing, Gerry finally felt ready to find the next woman he couldn’t live without—to help him take on new adventures and live out his golden years the way Toni would have wanted him to. When he applied to star in ABC’s The Golden Bachelor, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change.

In Golden Years, Gerry chronicles his grief after Toni’s death, his unbelievable experiences on The Golden Bachelor, and the life-altering lessons he took away from both. Rich with behind-the-scenes insights into filming the show and hard-won rules he lived by when putting himself back into the dating world, Golden Years tells Gerry Turner’s complete story for the first time.

Gerry really shared a lot of himself and very personal and emotional details of his story in this book. I’m glad he told the truth from his perspective. I think of my Dad and how he’d have handled such an insane experience- Gerry deserves a ton of grace and applause for being brave and putting himself out there even though we live in one of the most critical (and hypocritical) times in our society. I liked the book and I recommend reading it with an open mind and an open heart.

Honest

I adored Golden Years! I listened to the audible version and could not stop until the end. This is Gerry's version and actual voice in the audible- told with honesty, respect, fairness, and truly heartfelt. He opens up with grace and shows what real integrity looks like after a year of silence. I have so much admiration for him especially with all the unfair media criticism and backlash.

You can feel his heart on every page. It also was a reminder that the audience only saw a small glimpse based on the show and what the MEDIA wanted us to hear and think.

I would be very interested in reading Theresa's side of the story. I am confused with some of her actions:
Why would she join the show if she could not immediately retire and relocate?
Why did she plan the wedding so quickly knowing she could not retire and relocate?
Was she reading the book, How to Win the Bachelor? And, was that her MO?

Best of luck to Gerry in all of his endeavors. He truly has a Heart of Gold💛

💛 A Golden Read!

It was a good read/listen. Knowing his perspective and feelings helped me understand how things played out. Also it was fun reading about the area I live. Loved it!

I enjoyed listening to the story and the sequence of events, bad decisions were made, but it seems everyone is back to normal again and life goes on. Best of luck to Gerry and thanks for sharing it with us, wishing happiness in his future 😊

Interesting 😊

As a long time Bachelor fan, I found it interesting to following Gerry's experiences and learn about some of the details we didn't see on the show. He does come across somewhat bitter and petty with Theresa which is unfortunate and a missed opportunity to be classier.

Entertaining but meh
