I'm 72 and have gone through a lot of the same circumstances. I am going to try some of the things that Dick suggests to help those thoughts of self despair and personal loss. This man is a treasure

I had just moved away from home for the first time and I was looking for something to uplift me, as I was in a bit of a spot mentally. I stumbled upon this book and was immediately hooked. Strangely enough I had just watched spinal tap for the first time in years, which was directed by rob reiner, Carl Reiners son. Within that same week Dick had his 100th birthday, and Rob was also murdered by his son. A lot of strange coincidences. But I digress, this book is wonderful and Dick Van Dyke is an inspiration.

The chapters not being chronological made me feel I was sitting with Mr. Van Dyke listening as the memories occurred! This was my loving memory feeling he told me every story personally.
