Acerca de esta escucha
This one is a little different.
If you feel like the world forgot to prepare a spot for you, this is for you.
If you feel like you were born into the wrong timeline, the wrong culture, or on the wrong planet, this is for you.
If you’ve ever found yourself questioning your humanity and wondering if you are “something else”, this is for you.
If you feel like your life has been an endless quest for something you haven’t found, this is for you.
If you feel more aware of the pain, the suffering, the darkness, and the brokenness of the world, this is for you.
If you relate to these words, please know that I see you. That you aren’t anywhere near as alone as you feel. That there are others like you. Your pain is real and valid, even if nobody around you understands it.
You don’t have to hide anymore. You don’t have to keep wearing that brave face for everyone else’s benefit, even when it feels like you’re drowning inside. You can face the darkness head-on, and I can teach you how.
First, we have to identify the lies the world tells you and how to stop listening to them. There are six of them in particular that we hear over and over again:
- Everything is your fault
- You can’t change anything
- You're missing something
- What feels true is true
- You're not trying hard enough
- You aren't ready
Most people believe and align with these lies. You don't have to. If you learn how to recognize them and speak truth to them over and over again, they start to quiet down. This lets you be you again, instead of what the world tries to make you into.

We’ve been looking at perfectionism all wrong. As psychotherapist and former on-site therapist at Google Katherine Morgan Schafler argues in The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control, you don’t have to stop being a perfectionist to be healthy. For women who are sick of being given the generic advice to “find balance,” a new approach has arrived.

Almost every day we are bombarded with the seemingly incontrovertible message that we must reduce our consumption of meat and dairy—or eliminate them from our diets altogether. But what if the pervasive message that the plant-based diet will improve our health and save the planet is misleading—or even false? What if removing animal foods from our diet is a serious threat to human health, and a red herring in the fight against climate change.

In Travel Light, he shares his surprising revelation that being a “spiritual minimalist” means you don’t focus on material objects. What matters more than clearing out your closets is how much trust you have in your inner guidance.

The science of emotion is in the midst of a revolution on par with the discovery of relativity in physics and natural selection in biology. Leading the charge is psychologist and neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett, whose research overturns the long-standing belief that emotions are automatic, universal, and hardwired in different brain regions. Instead, Barrett shows, we construct each instance of emotion through a unique interplay of brain, body, and culture.

Can changing your thoughts improve your health? We tend to live our lives as though our ailments—our stiff knees or frayed nerves or diminished eyesight—can change only in one direction: for the worse. Award-winning social psychologist Ellen J. Langer’s life’s work proves the fault in this negative outlook as well as the healing power of its alternative: mindfulness—the process of active noticing where we are not bound by past experience or conventional wisdom. In The Mindful Body, Dr. Langer unpacks her assumption-busting findings and outlines her bold new theory of mind-body unity.

In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

Everyone has a sensitive side, but nearly one in three people have the genes to be more sensitive than others—both physically and emotionally. These are the people who pause before speaking and think before acting; they tune in to subtle details and make connections that others miss. Whether introverted or extroverted, they tend to be bighearted, creative, and wired to go deep, yet society tells them to hide the very sensitivity that makes them this way. These are the world’s “highly sensitive people,” and Sensitive is the book that champions them.

Labeled a silent epidemic by a growing number of therapists and researchers, estrangement is one of the most disorienting and painful experiences of a parent's life. Popular opinion typically tells a one-sided story of parents who got what they deserved or overly entitled adult children who wrongly blame their parents. However, the reasons for estrangement are far more complex and varied.

Profound and tangible
I found this book at perhaps the lowest point of my life. I found it to be incredibly validating, and then to be very informative on how my mind works. I found it to be encouraging and at times humbling, but always very supportive. I love the focus on different external lies that get repeated as truth, and I found the strategies on how to strengthen my relationship with my true, inner self practical and open-ended enough to be flexible to where I am in my mental fitness journey. Thank you to the author for the contents, I plan on buying a physical copy to keep for reference and study.
I also appreciated the narrator’s voice. A timbre fitting for this book, she has a gentle and thoughtful tonality that made it easy to get lost in the book’s contents. I never felt distracted by the narration pace or quality. A few other books that don’t happen to be on some mega best seller list (which this book arguably should be, for all our health) dealing with therapy and mental fitness are narrated poorly or the audio of a distracting, grating quality that I can’t get into the book contents. No so here. Excellent narration.

Amazing, relevant, and so helpful
Dr. Scott has gone through it. You can tell he is speaking from a position of experience with the added benefit psychology knowledge. He presents new perspectives on things and gives a lot of good, new ideas. As someone living with treatment resistant depression, it was so refreshing to hear something different. It gave me hope. Thank you, Dr. Scott. I honestly hope to purchase an autographed copy someday.

Love his work
I’ve been following his work for some years now, I’ve hand the physical book more than a year but listening to it on the go, has been one of the best investments I’ve made all year. Grateful to him for his work, words, and contributions to my life, though I only know him through social media and this book. Eternally grateful to feel seen through his work.

I listen over and over
As the ‘scapegoat’ in a sadistic, vindictive, victim playing malignant narcissistic family system- this book is balm to my soul and will be to yours too. If all you have ever experienced is contempt on a good day and aggressive hatred, smear campaigns and a commitment to your ruination and you have internalized all of it and considering suicide- this is the book to listen to over and over…. I wish Scott was my therapist. Good ones are truly hard to find. VERY HELPFUL- thank you Scott

Great Content
To be fair, this book is incredible. I discovered Dr. Scott through his YouTube channel, and he's so great at plugging into the experience of anxiety and depression and coming up with actionable steps to help people that actually feel doable, even when you're in the midst of a really bad mental health day…or week…or year…or lifetime. I was a little disappointed that he didn't narrate his own audiobook because I find his voice to be very calming and assuring. But the narrator was fine once I got used to her. EXCEPT one little thing lol. She mispronounced Gaston. Like, multiple times. And I just cannot respect someone who has obviously never seen Beauty and the Beast. I know that's petty lol but it really pulled me out of the audiobook. But anyway, it's a really great book and you should definitely read it. Just know going into it that the narrator has never seen Beauty and the Beast, and make your own judgments from that haha.

Relatable, practical, and well narrated
Sometimes when I'm feeling down I listen to part of this book just because I know it will help me feel hopeful again.
Its one of the most helpful I've found for improving my mental health.
I've listened to the whole thing several times to let things sink in, make new connections in my head, and find new things to work on.

underrated book for sure
Scott's own narrative is unique and honest. I could relate to him a lot with my own high empathy personality, self doubt and the way I believe what I believed. Scott might not be the best marketer for this book, but his genuineness and professionalism is truly something I really admire.
