This Is What Divorce Feels Like

There are a couple of other reviews stating they didn’t like the female character because she was always complaining and self-deprecating.

I found this book refreshing. When you go through a divorce, women often don’t feel attractive or “good enough.” Been there, done that and I could really empathize with Blakely. I also loved that Slade understood that and really helped her find herself again.

It doesn’t hurt that they had an immediate connection with each other. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend to anyone. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments mixed in with steamy attraction.

A Hallmark Channel story

I was on the fence about this one in the beginning, but once I got into the story- I couldn't get enough! Slade Henderson.. SWOON! Wonderful story and a lesson to never give up on finding the love you deserve ❤

Sweet love story

This is one of the sweetest love stories that I have heard. Best of all both the man and woman are smart, funny and relatable people! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!

Great characters!

I absolutely loved Blakely! Her doubts and insecurities were so relatable, and her strength was inspiring. Slade was all the things you hope for in a leading man and I could not get enough of these two.

Amazing

Blakely is one amazing strong woman. Slade is one strong sure of himself man. When he sees what he wants he goes after it. Could not wait to see where they were going.

Great listen

I started this book just before turning 40. It’s a great listen for someone around this age

Give me all the Slades

So, I like the older woman trope, but I’m pretty particular with it. This one danced around what I don’t like about the trope. It basically revolves around the woman feeling inadequate and sounding like an old hag. I do get as a plot device. Sometimes it’s a little much and admittedly for myself it can be a turn off.

For the most part I got over it. K. Bromberg wrote Blakely really well as a divorcee still reeling from the after effects of her marriage. How she shaped this character into improving her own self image was really good. Slade was great as her cheerleader. He’s a doctor at a crossroads with his job. So with his unexpected free time, he helps Blakely with her job with a list.

How K. weaves this list into the story was probably one of my favorite parts of this book. It was sentimental and good to see Blakely challenged. I liked that she gave into the chemistry her and Slade shared and I loved how she evolved.

While not a fan of the black moment, I did adore the sweetness of this love story. Blakely and Slade were just *that* couple you cheer for.

Emma Wilder and Zachary Webber came through hard. Just a great performance from both. Emma stealing the show just a little bit more with multiple character voices in some scenes. Just wow.

Perfect age gap romance to show the power of love

K. Bromberg captivates my heart again! I loved this older in age romance. The usual is young people in love. Who says after a certain age you can't find love? This story shows that love is found at any age. Especially at almost 40 (come on, that's not even old!). Blakely is just going through the motions in life. She has been in love in forever. Her husband who didn't deserve her left her for someone younger. And she is fighting for a spot in her job she deserves but being told she is too out dated with her methods. Then she meets Slade and everything she believes about herself is about to be debunked buy this sexy, younger cardio surgeon. Slade has his own issues to deal with. He doesn't commit. His work is his life. Then Blakely captivates him and his main goal becomes showing her how wonderful she is and how she has so much love to give. If you love age gap romances this is your new favorite. And it's got all the steam we love in a Bromberg novel. Really most of the time I forgot there was any sort of age difference. I loved this story from start to finish. I fell hard for this couple and their story. I rooted for both of them in their struggles. This is the ultimate story of taking your life back. These narrators were the perfect Blakely and Slade. No joke! Their chemistry in their voice was apparent. A must read/listen all around!
