Good story, lame ending

Overall the story was good. The only issue I had was the lame cliffhanger ending.

Holding onto hope

I rated this one highly because I still enjoy the story’s ideas but I feel like book 2 lost a lot of the spark for me. Mason seemed like a side character and every time I got invested in what he did boom switch.
Also this should have been a whole book about Mayry because I feel like that’s what it turned into. Mason went from making dumb choices for action and some reasoned out things. Now we just get to do what Mayry wants and says?
I’m very hopeful for a switch back to what I enjoyed of the first one. I didn’t mind Mayry at all in that one, but she killed this one dead for me.

Great book, writing and characters

I got the 1st book in this series from Aethon and enjoyed it enough to buy the 2nd book.

It carries the story forward well and continues to develop the complexity in-world as well as with the characters and story.

I am slightly leery of book 3, as it's possible that like may other writers, they can get the first couple books done and remain coherent and focused but that 3rd book is crucial to maintaining that success.

I am def going to purchase and will follow up with a short review after listening. Cheers.
