Resumen del Editor

Breast cysts and cancer are epidemic at this time in history. The healthcare industry says that the cause of 70 percent of all breast cancer is unknown. Dressed to Kill helps solve this mystery, explaining how one of the greatest threats to breast health is something that women do to themselves every day.

This book has its roots in a personal crisis in the authors’ lives, when Soma Grismaijer was shocked to find a lump in her breast while pregnant. Looking for clues that might point to the origin of this lump led the husband-and-wife medical anthropology team to develop a new theory and to conduct an extensive survey of nearly 5,000 United States women, half of whom had breast cancer, in an attempt to uncover a hidden cause of this devastating disease.

In Dressed to Kill, authors Singer and Grismaijer, pioneers in the field of applied medical anthropology, explain their unique approach to researching and understanding the cultural causes of disease in an easy-to-listen language that is accessible to the layperson and the professional alike.

This book has already had an impact on the healthcare and fashion worlds, moving some doctors to rethink the prevention and treatment of breast disease and some clothing designers to rethink their products. Controversial for its challenge to established custom and medical dogma, this breakthrough work is a classic, and in this updated edition, it continues to suggest new ways of dealing with an old and all-too-common women’s health issue.

Enlightening

I enjoyed this read, and it has changed my perspective, and I will tell everyone, especially the women in my life about the connection between raw youth and breast cancer. Thank you so much for the work and research you have done in this field despite all of the setbacks. Be encouraged!

Critical Life-Saving Information

Whether you read the book or listen to it while you commute to work, the information in this product is information that all women will be grateful to read or hear once they apply it to their own lives. More than a dozen International scientific studies have all supported the work put forth in this book. You have the option of allowing those who profit from your discomfort (and personal loss) to control your daily fashion choices, or you can take control and improve your breast health and comfort and place breast cancer on the bus out of town.

The narrator does an excellent job of reading the text, and she sounds as if she not only understands what she is reading but she sounds as if she is interested in what the book is telling her. Her voice is pleasant, she uses interesting voice inflection, and her performance is flawless.

Large industries do not want you to read or listen to this book, because of what your decision to remove your bra can do to their bottom line. They have fought the release of this information for twenty-five years and are, in some cases, the same people that prevented you from learning the truth about the relation between smoking and lung cancer for thirty years. Don't let them hide this simple fact from you as well.

Learn how breast cancer does not exist where women do not wear bras,,, in any country... during any period in history.

Join the many women that have learned that wearing a bra restricts your body's natural process of eliminating carcinogens from your breast tissues due to the simple pressures placed upon your breasts by wearing any bra. That allows the carcinogens to convert your breast cell DNA into breast cancer.

Women that do not wear a bra have the same risk of developing breast cancer as a man. Think about that for a little while. You really should read or listen to this book and act according to your common intelligence.

Very Important to Know

I wish my mother had known about this book when she was diagnosed with cancer of the lymph nodes (in her armpits) back in the early 2000s. She might still be here if we'd had access to more options and knowledge about the lymphatic system at the time. But she was merely seen as a source of money and a prime guinea pig by the top cancer specialists in our state.
Adding going braless to a full regimen of healing would have hurt nothing and could have meant a great deal in combination with other practices. At worst she would have been that much more physically comfortable for the years she had left, and it best having an improved lymphatic system might have helped extend her life.

Everyone should listen/read

Easy to listen to and binge. I’d encourage everyone to listen or read this book. It provides some very interesting and thought provoking information on what our culture is doing to women and the corruption of the medical industry.
