Resumen del Editor

The key to success in life and business is to become a master at Conversational Intelligence. It's not about how smart you are, but how open you are to learn new and effective powerful conversational rituals that prime the brain for trust, partnership, and mutual success. Conversational Intelligence translates the wealth of new insights coming out of neuroscience from across the globe, and brings the science down to earth so people can understand and apply it in their everyday lives. Author Judith Glaser presents a framework for knowing what kind of conversations trigger the lower, more primitive brain; and what activates higher-level intelligences such as trust, integrity, empathy, and good judgment. Conversational Intelligence makes complex scientific material simple to understand and apply through a wealth of easy to use tools, examples, conversational rituals, and practices for all levels of an organization.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Glaser's idea of C-IQ provides an excellent guide to improving effectiveness both on the job and outside the office and should stimulate "thinking different" among practitioners, faculty, and students of business. High recommended." ( Library Journal)

It was OK for me, but I can see the value!

I enjoyed the listen and a few of the messages made an impact on me but overall, I just didn't get much from this book. With that being said, I do think for folks who struggle with communication or feel that their messaging is never received quite as he/she intended this would be an excellent read and valuable insight would be gained.
I read this as it was a book referenced at a leadership summit I attended not so much because I felt my communication skills were lacking so for me, the return on investment was minimal.

Great insights, but noticeable differences

I bought the audible first, but due to the multiple illustrations I thought it good to also get the hard copy. Towards the end of the book I listened with the book open and noticed a number of instances where the audio and text were not consistent. The epilogue was significantly shorter as well. I don’t think the differences are not too significant, but worth noting when deciding between hard copy and audible.

Great read

This book gives you great tips on how to be a great leader in conversations. I feel like I can apply this to my personal and professional life. I wish someone had told me about this book sooner!

Great content...but it's read by a computer.

What didn’t you like about Karen Saltus’s performance?

I'm sorry Karen, but this recording sounds like it was produced by a computer. I couldn't last even 5 minutes before I had to shut it off. I decided to read the book instead. Just a dreadful experience listening to this recording of otherwise great content.

Buy the book

The contents of the book are well researched. However, it is more beneficial to purchase or borrow the book than listening to the narrated version of this book. I had to stop listening. I give story a 3 as this is a self help book and not a fictional book.

Great info; Headache of narration

I really wanted to get through this book as I find the info fascinating. I had to stop it at minute 12 as I could not take the oddly robotic, monotone voice of the narrator. Will be returning, sadly.

Some good points behind the words

Would you try another book from Judith E. Glaser and/or Karen Saltus?

No

Would you recommend Conversational Intelligence to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe a summary of the book

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yes, the narrator's tonal quality was difficult to listen to while driving, the words did not come across clearly.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

This book had some critical skills and points for humanity but it was couched within so much psycho-babble and pseudo-science that it made if difficult to listen to. The author uses the term Conversational Intelligence almost every 2nd or 3rd sentence as well as "pre-frontal cortex," "amygdala," and "functional magnetic resonance imaging (F-MRI)." I'm sure her findings have some basis within science, but it feels as if the reader/listener is beaten over the head with these words to show you she is not making it up. I think all of her findings are valid and have some very useful take-aways, but it is very difficult to sort through all the extra words and find those nuggets, especially in the listening format.

Missing accompanying PDFs

This book is amazing but the accompanying PDFs stop at image 11-2 when the audio refers to image 11-3 and more.

Worthy of Listening, Studying and Sharing

This is one of the most important books I have read in a long time. While it is a critical read or listen for those who value exceptional leadership, it would benefit anyone who values people and relationships. It’s emotional intelligence focused intently on the science behind our interactions. It’s a skill that could change our world.
