In more than 40 years at the forefront of his profession, he has twice survived near fatal addictions to drugs and alcohol, the death of his four-year-old son, the deaths of friends such as Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon, the break-up of marriage, and the disintegration of relationships with a succession of beautiful women.

I would have never dreamed this is how an era came to be in one man's eyes - what an interesting life he has . An excellent book that , when told by the narrator Mr. Nighy, made it feel so intimate, as if you witnessed his life with him -

Poor Poor Pitifull Me...A Wasted Life

For all of Claptons early career raw talent in Cream, etc. it was a mistake to for Clapton to publish this book that exposes the mythic “Clapton is God” to actually Be “Clapton is an immature addict that basically runined the wonderful possibilities that life offered him. “

I agree with another reviewer who said, “this book serves to eradicate any vestige of guitar hero worship. It made me feel better about myself: at least I'm not a miserable, pathetic, self-centered, putz like this dude. Thanks Clapton.”
