Resumen del Editor

The Eagles are the best-selling, and arguably the tightest-lipped, American group ever. Now band member and guitarist Don Felder finally breaks the Eagles’ years of public silence to take fans behind the scenes.

He shares every part of the band’s wild ride, from the pressure-packed recording studios and trashed hotel rooms to the tension-filled courtrooms and from the joy of writing powerful new songs to the magic of performing in huge arenas packed with roaring fans.

Amazingly Well Written and Read

A beautiful and insightful look into the Eagles by their lead guitar player , Don Felder. Very personal and well balanced , it portrays life in the Eagles as only a member can provide. Don Felder seems very fair in his assessment of the bands successes and failures.
Very well narrated
Can’t say enough good things about it. Five stars!

Typical male behavior

This was a great story and it’s too bad he felt the need to throw in the Woes me attitude toward his wife and feeling lonely. She stood by him being gone all those years, infidelity and drugs. What a cry baby! Asks her for a divorce because he she created a life fur her and he was lonely? Typical selfish male behavior.

Really, Really Good!

As a huge Eagles fan, I really enjoyed listening to this book! I fell in love with the band when I was in HS in the early 90s and they are still one of my favorite bands. Don’t let any negative reviews keep you from listening to their story from Don Felder, someone who lived it.

Interesting insights from the inside.

I enjoyed it very much. I thought the narrator was too flat, dull. But I would recommend it.

Survivor of “the Gods” abuse

Don Felder, creator of “Hotel California”, survived the battering of two narcissistic, controlling band members, who despite being very talented, did not appreciate the talent and contributions of other band members who made them so successful. It was like being the younger brother in an abusive family. When Henley and Frey refused to include Felder in the Eagles induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (not mentioned in this book), I lost so much respect for them. I’m happy Felder stood up to them. Don Henley still hires dozens of people, at minimum wage, to scour the Internet searching to block anyone using Eagles music. He’s so money hungry that he cannot see the damage he’s doing to himself, Eagles fans, and the band. The Internet is free advertising for the Eagles. But he sees it a money lost. None of this last part is in the book. Don Felder was kind enough to leave it out.

Felder was the gentleman. “The Gods” caused so much destruction. They could have been so much more.

Great Book. Awesome Musician!!

Already knowing and loving Felder’s guitar style and sound, I was truly amazed to hear what terrible and vile people Frey and Henley are. That being said, the only Eagles tunes I ever liked were those with heavy Guitar chops and solos by Felder, regardless. He was definitely greater than the sum of the Eagles’ parts. Frey and Henley were average musicians who could have been replaced by anyone. The average radio listener in the 70s were too stoned or ill versed in what true musicianship was anyway. Just imagine Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Frey and Henley all in the same room. You’d need a 6 story ceiling for all the hubris and ego. Thanks for people like Felder who bring the true sound to bands and their music.

A tale worth listening to

Simply but superbly written and narrated. A balanced story of the strengths and weaknesses of the individual ad well as relationships. Well played Don!

Great story by a guy you you have to like!!!

Great story, it is almost impossible to have stayed in a band this long, not to mention having made an impact on a generation of music lovers. Great insight into the Eagles.

Was not wasted time

It’s a good listen. I was never fully aware of the dissension within the band. My perception has always been that
Don and Glenn were egomaniacs and Felders story supports that, but there are always three sides to the story.
