Step into the life of the author as he chases his dream of ditching his life on land and embracing that of a nomadic cruising sailor. After selling his house and getting rid of everything else that won't come aboard, the author buys an old sailboat and embarks on a solo mission to live a simple nomadic life, surrounded by nature, on the water. Come along for the ride: sailing offshore, alone, and through the Bahamas.
Chasing the Nomadic Dream is a nonfiction singlehand-sailing adventure, beginning with buying a boat in Massachusetts, moving aboard, and trying to make it to The Bahamas ahead of the coming winter. The book is immersive, sometimes dramatic, and occasionally poetic.
The author shares the beauty, adventure, hardships, and all the emotions that come with offshore solo sailing and exploring tropical islands, both above and under the water, as well as lessons learned along the way, GPS locations of anchorages, descriptions of spearfishing and surfing, photos, and poems.
Whether you are an armchair sailor wanting to live the dream vicariously, or an offshore sailor looking to gain experience through listening, this book will take you there.

Wonderful story and narration!

Sailing part is great.
All in all a good book, but I could live without the pandemic commentary which now seems awkward and dated.

Honest storytelling
Chasing the Nomadic Dream by Paul Trammell is a fascinating book about living on the move and how it changes people. Trammell tells his story in a simple and honest way, showing us how he found freedom and learned about himself while traveling. A Great Listen!!
My husband and I chose to listen to Paul's book each night just before retiring. Although not mariners, we are ancient compared to Paul. Thus we were pleasantly surprised at how immediately the book drew us in
by its theme, its twists & turns and entrancing narration. Our lack of familiarity of a sailor's lingo did not detract from our total enjoyment.
We all have dreams. Paul's recounting of the challenges of following that dream and the satisfaction of his achieving that step inspired us and will inspire anyone who chooses to follow theirs.

I thought it would be about traveling the world on a sailboat.
It reads like a journal and not exciting at all! It is mostly telling about bite Ms on the boat breaking and how he fixed it and staying up and going to sleep. Boring.
