Fantastic perspective on the sea gypsy life! yeah it is not a book to teach you how to sail, doesn't claim to, and those who get but hurt foe being called out on their "american" mass consumption and capitalist life styles are the exact opposite of any gypsy let alone a sea gypsy. So yeah take this book for what it is and enjoy. Some great stories, and good tips, well written and entertaining.

Fantastic Book!!

So many helpful tips about sailing, sailboats, and attitude! The author has a wonderful sense of humor and I enjoyed every part of listening to this audiobook. I think I will even buy the book because there are so many helpful websites and notes given throughout! I highly highly recommend.

About half way through listening I jumped on Amazon and ordered a copy in print because I'm sure it will become a reference!

Good for intermediate sailors

Im a good sailor, I’m on my 5th small sailboat but daydream about a boat I could live on. In this book I learned a lot about very specific and useful info. The book must have had a few pictures because I had to google search some images along the way to understand what he was describing. It’s great to feel knowledgeable and have the embarrassment of asking a million stupid questions. I’ve listened to some sailing adventure books but this was the most useful I’ve heard by far and it remains interesting if you actually plan on getting gone!

look no further if your looking to live aboard!

Igenerally don't leave reviews but, as my wife and I are starting our journey into live aboard sailing, this was one of the best books I've picked up out there. Rick puts into words what i have suspected but I haven't heard anyone else say. this book is about the mindset you need to try and make this transition and gives great technical advice too. it is absolutely wonderful and cheeky in all the right ways while cutting through bullshit. 10 out of 10 would recommend !

DO NOT listen to this while driving to the rat race. You might not get out of the car when you get there.

This was a very enjoyable read. It brought tears to my eyes a couple times. The narration was perfect for the subject.

Exceeded Expectations

I can’t say enough good things about this book. I’ve always struggled with the boating community’s obsession with materialism and competitiveness, so Rick’s message really resonates with me. I feel much more confident in pursuing my sea gypsy life on a sensible budget having listened to this audio book. Rick is bloody funny too and had me laughing out loud multiple times! The narrator is excellent too. There are a few references to illustrations which can be found on the author’s website. Absolutely essential reading for the budget cruiser. 10 stars!

Just get through the sermon…

and soak up the great how-to information. It is well worth it. Narrator great!
