Be prepared to suspend reality

because Chad Zunker requires you to do that way too many times. Works of fiction often have moments when that is necessary to advance the plot but in this case Zunker over does it. And he exacerbates the problem by going into lengthy explanations to try to explain the character’s behavior. Better works of fiction take you there through vivid descriptions of scenes and characters that leave you believing you might make the same choice or decision. I enjoyed the book despite those flaws. It is easier to be a critic than a writer.

Great story and narration

This story is very good. It is fast paced and kept my interest until the end. The narration was great as well.

It really kept me guessing

All the twists and turns kept each part interesting. Rich characters you love and ones really easy to hate

It’s been a turn by turn events , twists that you don’t expect. Great story and great narrative.

Good story..worth a listen.

I liked listening to this. Sometimes with this genre I get a little confused with so many characters but this story had just the right amount to keep it on track and entertaining and not make me lose focus. Good enough character building to make even the hated characters have some redeeming qualities. I liked the ending was what I hoped for. It didn’t have any parts that I did an eye roll or were totally unbelievable.

The Story

The story of the Kingston family is very interesting. Jake is in the run looking for his daughter only to uncover more than he bargained for. Jake is not fond of his father in law. The death of his wife uncovers more than he expected. I truly enjoyed listening to this audio.

When Comparing to Other Writers

…the writing falls below average. The story was creative, interesting, and it moved through at a fast pace but I found the writer’s skill with words unimpressive.

I’ve listened to many novels by writers such as Bernard Cornwell, Bryce Courtenay, Ken Follett, even Ben Coes, who all have a beautiful and skillful way with words and story telling. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this story and have enjoyed other novels by Zunker.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. it kept me captivated and entertained. Every time I thought I had it figured out, it gave a little twist. The narration was good as well. New to me author and a 5 star read.
