Soon after WWII, U.S. statesman Dean Acheson warned that creating Israel on land already inhabited by Palestinians would "imperil" both American and all Western interests in the region. Despite warnings such as this one, President Truman supported establishing a Jewish state on land primarily inhabited by Muslims and Christians.

Few Americans today are aware that U.S. support enabled the creation of modern Israel. Even fewer know that U.S. politicians pushed this policy over the forceful objections of top diplomatic and military experts.

As this work demonstrates, these politicians were bombarded by a massive pro-Israel lobbying effort that ranged from well-funded and very public Zionist organizations to an "elitist secret society" whose members included Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis.

Against Our Better Judgment brings together meticulously sourced evidence to illuminate a reality that differs starkly from the prevailing narrative. It provides a clear view of the history that is key to understanding one of the most critically important political issues of our day.

I would recommend anyone and everyone who is interested in knowing the truth to read this.

This is the back story of how a fanatical and highly organized minority came to dictate US foreign policy, including war, by the early 20th century. If you think that such a state of events is a recent phenomenon, you are in for a surprise.

Shocking suppressed history. Audio is fine.

A historical timeline that I wish more Americans knew. the sound was fine for me, bad for some i guess.

every American should listen to this

I wish I had read this book earlier. This book provides history of the United States role in creating Israel. It was an ill conceived idea from the start that was advised against by numerous US and Europeans. Unfortunately these warnings were not listened to and the world is dealing with the injustice and destruction created by Israel.

Incredible history of the creation of Israel.

A great and quick analysis on the influences of Zionism. Would totally recommend to those interested in the history of Zionism and the Israeli-Palestine conflict.

Phenomenal

The only thing I wish is that it was longer. It is an excellent encapsulation of events. If you've studied related events it is easy to put this information into the greater context.

Excellent summary of events

Very good insight into the unvarnished history of Zionist and there far reaching political power

very good and insightful

Information that is hidden from people. Facts about true nature of Zionism and how it achieved its goals by deception, extreme violence, bribery and thuggery.

Must read. Amazing and enlightening

This is an exceptionally important book - well-researched & thoroughly documented. It brings to light critical information which has heretofore been covered up, and which levels the playing field, in that despite these coverups, we can now understand what many Palestinians have known for decades: the full history of the creation of Israel, and the injustice with which the U.S. and Britain colluded. And we can understand better the roots of the conflict - which is essential not only for justice, but also for the security of Jews both in Israel and throughout the world.

Exceptionally imortant history

Compelling writing that the world needs to hear, and that's where it falls short. Having been published in 2014, I expected a much higher quality narration. Mr McGowan very competently accomplishes the narration, however it has been distributed at such high audio compression that it sounds as if he is reading the book to me via a low bitrate early generation web chat.

I'm sure a higher quality version of this recording is out there, and they would do well to add it to this library.

Excellent writing, with a major pitfall
