The perfect slow burn romantacy

Loved this series! This series has all of my favorite things: romance, fantasy, adventure, a good storyline that doesn’t drag on but still has depth. It’s the perfect amount of slow burn. The build up doesn’t drag on and on. The writing is amazing, and the narration is excellent. I highly recommend for anyone who likes romantasy

Even better than the first book

This book was full of adventure and romance. It was so well written and I really enjoyed Kain’s POV. He is so down bad for Arwen.

Descriptive emotion and spice

It’s written pretty descriptive that it feels like youre there. The spice was also upped in this one, it was really steamy and kinda unexpected

The story is getting a little better

I'm not sold on the narrators. Ruby doesn't have enough passion, and sounds more like she is whispering a story to children. Will is a bit better suited to Kane's character, though he also doesn't give enough emotion to the story as it is written.

I liked this second book in the Sacred Stones trilogy slightly more than the first book. The writing is still a bit rough around the edges, making some parts seem more juvenile than others.

The FMC is probably the best written character in the whole book, which makes sense since this is mainly her story. Arwen is flawed, broken, and still mostly naive, and the writing shows that, but there are times when it seems like she has completely forgotten previous experiences with danger or other situations and charges blindly into the same types of trouble over and over again. That isn't a flawed character trait, but it is poor character growth writing.

The MMC, Kane, is an idiot. He is over two centuries old and has been King of Onyx for fifty years, but he acts like an immature idiot who can't make any real decisions. He is so powerful and knows how to use his magic, but for some reason, he doesn't use it when it would make all the difference in a situation.

The ending was pure creepy factor. I'm glad the last book is finally released so I can jump right in and see how the story plays out to its conclusion.

Picking up.

I would probably give it a 4.25 if we didn’t have to do whole stars. I think that the story is picking up and I’m jumping right into the last book.

Next book please

This series just gets better. Kate Golden sure knows how to keep me coming back for more. This is the second book in The Sacred Stones series, and it has everything I love in a Romantasy book. Action, adventure, great characters, and sizzling chemistry. Kane and Arwen are both complex characters and had great growth in this book. Arwen especially had to deal with a lot. Watching her go through the stages and grieving and depression that comes with it was heartbreaking. I also lived for Griffin’s and Mari’s interactions; I so hope we see more of them in the next book! And narration was great as well.

Story just gets better and better, world expands more, and pacing is great!
Love how Arwen doesn't just fall back into Kane's arms, it takes time and Arwen's reaction is so valid.

Interesting Story

It's an interesting story, not too cliche but also not that surprising.

The author does a good job of description and there is good emotion and action.

The characters are flawed which I like but there is some hypocrisy that doesn't seem to be resolved, some people are allowed to lie and some are not. Everyone is morally grey, but it's only okay for some people.

Someone told me it's a fun story but won't change your life. It's not perfect but it is fine.

The downsides are that the author tells and not shows. Honestly she tells us that everyone is friends, but their actions don't really show they like each other. They are mean to each other and lie to each other and the reader sees little support.

The most annoying thing is the male narrator. He is awful. He reads Kane as a melodramatic twit constantly on the verge of a mental breakdown when the words are a driven man who is dryly sorting out his feelings. It makes the climax boring because the narrator is just more melodrama, the male narrator has one mode for Kane. So bad.
He reads the women as shrewish harpies. Honestly he is awful and this absolutely is not the genera for him. He doesn't get it. Maybe read this series.

I do like the female narrator a lot, but the male narrator is just that bad.

The story series is fascinating. Look forward to the next book in this fantasy romancatic series
