3.5 historical 🌟

The story is good. It has intrigue, romance, and a little humor. There is spice, but it's not a lot. I struggled with the narrator at first, but I got used to her. I enjoyed it.

One of my new favorites!

I love historical romances but I get tired of the same heroes and heroines, all aristocratic and wealthy. It is such a refreshing change to read a truly compelling romance involving characters from a different walk of life. Nye treads the line of unlikability with his jealous tirades and temper but Mina is more than a match for him and you feel like they are real people who against all odds ended up with someone perfect for them. Great read!

Very enjoyable

I loved Mina. Will came off in the beginning as a extremely unlikable man. But as the book progressed I changed my opinion. The other characters added depth to the story.

New author for me

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. This isn’t a narrator I buy but I grew to like her as I couldn’t put the book down, The author was recommended by readers who were evaluating marriage of convenience titles. Contributors compared her to Balogh and Matthews, both authors I reread frequently. I am delighted to agree. This is the first book I’ve read by her, so I am really looking forward to more.

SWOON! Get author!!

This is the 1st book I've read by this author and definitely not the last!! The writing is superb! Not only do the characters come alive and practically jump off the page but the entire story is described so vividly I felt transported.
And the romance... oh my the romance, <get me to a fainting couch>. I cute myself smiling and referring to this brutish man's clumsy advances as cute and sweet and very very hot!! In many other romance novels the sexy scenes can be so crude it makes the reader uncomfortable. But these intimate moments are real, tantizing, seductive, sensual, and funny all at the same time. Most will make you squirm!

The back story is interwoven with an odd yet unique connection between characters. I became so engrossed in the narration that at times I could smell the sour stale beer of the tavern, see the opulence of the brother's manor house and hear the the din of the crowds.

It is simply a must read for all historical romance fans! Can't wait for the next in the series!

Entertaining

I like the authors style. Wasn’t sure at first, but the story came together and I was hooked.

A Very Different Story

I really enjoyed this story but the plot is very different. It was not about the aristocracy; it was about plain old people. And it was very good. In fact, it could have been a little longer although I usually complain about the stories being too long so maybe this was just right. Narrator was good, also.

This was excellent!

There’s something about a dark brooding man that intrigues me. Another reviewer said it was a Beauty and the Beast type story and I agree. This author needs to keep writing, perhaps my new favorite author!

Narrator was excellent as always, my favorite female narrator. When listening I find myself completely enthralled with the story instead of being distracted by the narrator as I usually am with other performers. She is good!

Great story!

Really great story, wonderful character development. Some steamy sex scenes (I always appreciate when a reviewer mentions, as I love a romance story with some of those).
Definitely worth a read/listen.
Worth a credit.

Never Disappointed with this Author

I love Alice Coldbreath as an author and her stories so far have never disappointed this reader. “A Bride for the Prizefighter” was oh so delightful and such an enjoyable read. A trope of marriage of convenience with a lovely HEA. I had a hard time putting it down and loved the MCs in this story. Her development of overbearing heroes and strong-willed heroines makes her stories so unique as you see their personalities come alive throughout the pages of the story. Wished there could have been more depth to their characters other than the continued banter that led them to the bedroom. I loved how Mina with her prim and proper ways was able to transform Jeremy from the villainous brute into a charming marriageable husband. Narration by Carmen Rose was done very well.
