Hi, I'm Jake Hood and I've been a Horticulturalist from age 16-17 (currently 23) starting out with a little Euphorbia weed from the back garden of a Historic cold cottage...said weed was grown in a tiny plastic milk jug cut in half. From that humble beginning of taking the first step, I've had the opportunity to meet fantastic people...with fantastic gardens and mind-blowing plants. So I have decided to devote my life to learning and thus being knowledgeable about plants and finding ways of minimising unnecessary 'faff' to make it all the more enjoyable and less intimidating for those taking the first step. I have worked 4 years in a plant nursery specialising in tropical, temperate, full-frost hardy, and nowhere near frost hardy. More importantly, a very large houseplant section where there are large planted areas with mature specimens of Thaumattophyllums, Cyathea, Amorphallus, and all kinds of tropical palm trees. I have been "knighted" and referred to as the "in house, houseplant expert" which as you can imagine I'm rather proud of this accomplishment after all the weeks of watching countless Youtube Horticulturists visiting botanical gardens all around the world, diving deep into every houseplant I can get my hands on to and the all-important hands-on experience over many years...but can't forget the help I recieved from colleagues.
