Publisher's summary

Have you ever noticed how cruel and self-sabotaging your critical inner voice can be? Have you been looking outside of yourself for friends and loved ones to reassure you of your worthiness and lovability?

The latest developments in neuroscience unveil the amazing extent to which humans are wired for connection, belonging, and resonance with other humans. This wiring for connection is so strong, our nervous systems have the capacity to become our own compassionate self-witnesses, even when we have not had access as children to stable loving presence and warmth. The field of neurobiology and the science of mindfulness reveal that the human brain is capable of being engaged in the experience of upset (fear, anxiety, depression) while simultaneously observing and holding ourselves with kindness, as a loving parent or partner would.

This ability to be both experiencing and holding the experience is the key to maintaining inner calm in the face of life's challenges. If we learn to honor that each and every inner voice, no matter how distressing, has the desire to help us, we open to the possibility that each part of us has value. This helps create a gentle, accepting, and warm resonance with ourselves that can remain stable and present, even when parts of us feel upset.

In simple language and easy-to-follow exercises, Your Resonant Self synthesizes the latest discoveries in brain science, trauma treatment, and the power of empathy into an effective healing method that literally rewires our brain and restores our capacity for self-love and well-being. Each chapter weaves the core concepts of neurobiology with guided meditations, painting an inspiring picture of the human brain's inherent yearning toward healing and wholeness.

A Friend and a Soul Mate Representative

This is a friend when you need one. After nearly one and a half years of meditations and tarot readings I came across this and saw Resonance and it made me think of all the Radiance from the various meditators and I figured this was a logical step to balance things out. It is very insightful and innovative/confirming/resolving of current issues in the mess of a mental state that I had worked myself into. She is friendly and has broken up the stagnation that I have been stuck in for months. I have a renewed vigor and we are on our way again.

Most healing self help book I’ve read and great for parents

As a newish parent I’ve been looking for the best ways to get info and help on parenting and human nature. This book is gold! It’s not directed at parents at all but it is totally applicable and essential for parenting. Sarah explains how our systems work and gives exercises to change and heal our systems. This work directly affects our parenting since it affects us which then affects our kids. And it helps me understand human brains and bodies more so I develop rational and physical empathy. The most significant thing that’s helped me through parenting and my life is Sarah’s concept of warm attunent. I can feel my system change from fight, flight, freeze, etc to soft and warm when I do her exercises. And that completely alters how I parent and live in the world. It takes presence and work but she makes it doable and simple. This book should be required reading as a manual to human brains.

The only negative I have is that I highly recommend watching Sarah’s videos and reading the book because the recording is abrasive to me. I thought it was a robot. I’m surprised it’s not. A book about warmth and humanity read by the most robotic voice ever. The publishers did a big disservice not using a warm, emotionally connected voice. It’s such great info I keep listening but if you can read it do so. Either way the info is essential in my mind. So if you can’t read it then deal with the voice! Just imagine a warmer voice or watch Sarah’s meditation videos to experience the warmth for the exercises.

it really helped me

this book really helped me to be softer and more understanding towards myself. For example that shame might some times be there because it wants to help me being successful.

Great content!

Sarah's approach to inner happiness is kind, systematic and relentlessly efficient. I value her "to the point" approach and if followed, some of her meditations might be your personal key to growth.

Several of the people I shared this book with had trouble with the voice of the narrator. An different reading has potential to shine new light on this masterpiece.

Info useful, but tries to impart info out her realm of expertise- feels forced

Definitely good information-forced at times. The reader is abrasive- I would have preferred Sarah’s voice- especially the exercises. Important since it uses the language of parts- compassionate and inclusive. I don’t find it actionable, just wordy-and words don’t teach-maybe it’s hard to convey resonance through reading/listening.
