Publisher's summary

Breaking up in normal circumstances is hard enough. If you throw a narcissist into the equation, it makes it all the more difficult. Not only are you left heartbroken from the separation, but the actions and behaviors of the narcissist post-break-up are nothing short of cruel, confusing, and downright crazymaking. You feel like your world has ended and you don’t know how to rebuild it.

In this short audiobook, I want to use my own experience with a narcissist to highlight and outline the following for you:

  • discarding, and why the narcissist does this. This is a cruel tactic used by the narcissist to either punish you or because you have nothing left to give them.
  • what a narcissist does at the end of a relationship. Whilst all narcissists are different, you can count on one thing being consistent: their behavior.
  • how the narc feels and deals with the break-up.
  • the toxic narcissistic relationship pattern, so you can avoid being sucked into it once more.

If you're looking to listen to this audiobook, you're likely heartbroken and looking for some guidance, support, or understanding. As someone who has been through the hell of a narcissistic relationship, I can offer you all three, and I hope this audiobook can help you make sense of this heartbreaking time.

Reminders of My Truth I’m Not Crazy

A quick to the point truth about narcissistic discard, what you can expect, what it feels like and what you can look forward to in your new healthy future. One thing I’ve learned and this book quite affirmed is that their behavior is always predictable. They aren’t special. They are a typical boring textbook example of someone with a personality disorder. They aren’t even capable of anything more. That’s their disappointing truth. I am so much more than a victim of that boring predictable psycho.

A good place to start, validating

Lauren is right on the money describing how the narc will act, I just wish she would offer more advice as to how to deal with the mental brutality of the ex if cutting all ties is not an option. What if you have a business and a house and a kid together and have to see them and message them? I do agree, however, that if you can cut all contact then absolutely do that and commit to it 1000%. Wish I had read this 20 years ago!

Anyone have suggestions on what to read next? :)

Wow I'm blown away

This is such an eye opening audio book. This brought me so much clarity. Every stage she mentioned, I experienced with my partner. These last 2 months of emotional abuse, gaslighting, silent punishment and push and pull method broke me down. I blamed myself for things I didn't do. I now see, this isn't about me but instead him and his issues. Thank you so much for this read. I needed the clarity

confirmation

short but to the point. It helped remind me of the classic tactics of a narcissist and confirmed the textbook signs of what my ex did to me.

informative

Very informative. Not too deep but deep enough to explain and prepare you for deeper analytical books. I was constantly told I was the narc and this helped me begin to understand the abuse I had went through. I thought I was completely screwed up. convinced even and trying to fix myself to no avail. I'm glad I found this.

Eye opening

This was an incredible view into the behaviors on both sides of the toxic relationship. It really helped me understand her narcissistic actions and motives while understanding why I had such trouble breaking it off and kicking her out because of codependency I wasn’t even aware of at the time.
