Publisher's summary

A New York Times-bestselling author and former Los Angeles Times reporter chronicles the murder and abduction of two teens during a dream spring break vacation.

Best friends Daryl Barber and James Boucher were responsible, and their parents trusted them to spend Spring Break at Daytona Beach unchaperoned. When the boys missed their agreed-upon daily check-ins, their parents were disappointed. When they failed to come home on their planned return date, their parents were terrified. They could not have known that their innocent sons would encounter two violent men on the Florida coast. They could not have imagined the torture their children would endure before their bodies turned up four months later in a Florida swamp. What starts as a dream vacation, ended as every parent's worst nightmare . . .

New York Times-bestselling author Karen Kingsbury narrates the tragic tale of a road trip gone horribly wrong in this not-to-be missed true crime novel.

Storyline

It was very good and moved very quickly for me. So glad it wasn’t another football story!

Gripping

So much to this story. The way the author tells each piece keeps you going all the way to the end.

Finding Peace

It seems there is no peace really for those touched by these two boy’s lives. Two men having terrible childhoods v/s two young men who had the best childhoods. The winners, well no one of course and sadly that is truly how life is. God is and will always be in control of life and thankfully HE should be, b/c we have proven over and over again and again we HIS children are so not capable no matter how we try or don’t try. Peace is offered to everyone and comes to everyone once you choose it in Jesus Christ. So when, b/c it will happen, bad things happen to everyone your peace will be only when you look into Jesus’ face and not in ourselves and others 💜🙏💜

Fascinating but horrible story we’ll told

This book is an amazing story and one that held our attention throughout. I appreciated the true crime story being told without profanity and told with dignity and professionalism

Heartbreaking but maybe too religious

Well written and a tribute to the boys and family… But, gentle reminder, not everyone is a Christian and the God talk felt grating by the end.

Bad narration!

The female narrator attempted to deepen her voice for whenever a man spoke, launching into utter ridiculousness. I made it through four chapters before giving up. I would have liked to know how it ended, but the narration was just too much.
