Martial arts: Behind the myths

This book was very informative. This verified that the choice I have made as to which martial arts I should study is best for me. I want to thank the author for all of the information that he gave.

Mr. Pierce has done his research.

I sincerely enjoyed this book. At the time of selection it was available for free. I expected very little aside from the author's opinion, based on entire chapters about his experience in "X Martial Arts" that he'd use to justify his opinions. I was very happy to instead find a rather unbiased summary about the history of martial arts and zero cynicism toward particular popular arts practiced by many today. While he does touch on modern martial arts as a contrast to the traditional, he does not get explicitly qualitative about any art as being superior to another one-but rather glances over what benefits of each art as it may apply to the prospective practitioner. I look forward to reading more from Mr. Pierce in the future. Also, I enjoyed the snippet of information mentioned about the Bujinkan.

Decent

Overall an interesting book. The biggest drawback however is the horrendous mispronunciation of some words by the narrator. Granted some of these words are not common lexicon, but a little research on would go a long way...especially since they expect to be paid for it.

Myth is correct

This book is full of incorrect statements about Martial Arts, Fighting (which I highly doubt the author has done ANY of aside from maybe some bs tae kwon do sparring) and Bruce Lee who the author quite obviously does not like. Do not bother with this. This guy is part of the problem we have with Martial Arts today.

A good book for children

If you are older than 13 years old this book will not teach you anything you do not already know.
