Although clinical research has been conducted on narcissism as a disorder, less is known about its effects on victims who are in toxic relationships with partners with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Individuals with this disorder engage in chronic devaluation and manipulation of their partners, a psychological and emotional phenomenon known as "narcissistic abuse". Unfortunately, the full extent of what narcissistic abuse entails is not taught in any psychology class or diagnostic manual.

Publisher's summary
Many of us try to learn how to communicate throughout our lives with other individuals. We think that once we learn communication skills, we are set to talk to anyone. This belief is one that is quickly thrown by the wayside once we meet a narcissist whom we want or need to communicate with. His thought patterns and speech may be much different from anything we've ever encountered before. Before we know it, we have upset the narcissist and have gotten on his bad side, which is a very bad place to be.
In book one we detailed the different emotional places that the borderline and her narcissistic lover might come from during their development and in response to their relationships with their caregivers. As children, when we experience the overprotective helicopter parent who idealizes us far too much, the parent who can never accept the child's individuality and asks perfection of him, or the cold and emotionally invalidating parent(s) that tell us "boys don't cry", it disrupts our emotional development during the first 18 years, causing things like narcissism, borderline personality disorder, OCPD, avoidant personality disorder, antisocial personality or conduct disorders, or schizoid personality disorder.
First, I want to give a little back information on the borderline-narcissist relationship duo for those who are new to my series and refresh those who have tuned in to my other related books. The relationship duo between borderlines and narcissists tends to be more common than we think. There is no true way to get a good picture of how many relationships span this dynamic, as many borderlines and narcissists go undiagnosed or undetected. Most narcissists don't have the intuition, knowledge of their condition, or interest in their inner world to pursue why they are the way they are. It is unlikely that they would seek treatment because of their overinflated egos...

If you asked the ancient stoic philosophers how to live a good life, they’d answer you in a single word: Areté. We translate Areté as “virtue” or “excellence” but the word has a deeper meaning—something closer to being your best self moment to moment to moment.

Individuals with this disorder engage in chronic devaluation and manipulation of their partners, a psychological and emotional phenomenon known as "narcissistic abuse". Unfortunately, the full extent of what narcissistic abuse entails is not taught in any psychology class or diagnostic manual.

The narcissist is a force to be reckoned with. He has a nihilistic view of the world. He views his life as pointless. He has no religion, and most narcissists will actively consider themselves as being agnostic or atheistic. He has no guided purpose in his life. He is bored and listless. The only thing that gives a narcissist real pleasure is seeing other people in emotional pain, confusion, and suffering at his hands.

Really???
This narrative isn't for the person looking to find anything useful in dealing with a narcissistic relationship. In fact you will learn how to lose yourself. If a person involved in this type of abusive relationship is looking for answers, this is what you'll get: A robotic emotionally devoid voice schooling you in how to placate and feed the narcissist ego and irrational behavior. Run don't walk from this read.

Fair, true, utilitarian
assumes the person relating to the narcissist wishes to live in harmony with the narcissist at every expends to themselves.
if you realise a Narcissit is basically self serving, and you back off when they get upset, you've already got down what this book says. it is a listing of points, and does state that they are highly territorial and have known to kill over things, objects, people that are their s. So get out of their way when anger erupts.

My Life with a Narcissist
I’d never even heard the term before marrying my husband four years ago. Between caring for a mother with dementia and learning to cope with my Narcissistic husband, I thought I was loosing my mind. My thanks to J.B. Snow for this no-nonsense approach to dealing with my narcissist. The simple, easy to follow suggestions make me realize that I MUST keep my emotions out of this and use certain tactics to keep peace in my home. Currently, his entire family and his best friend hate me and have not spoken to me in over two years. He claims that I’ve insulted them all and they don’t like me. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just like the book says, your Narcissist will have no problem gathering up an army against you when he’s perceived his feelings were hurt or he was injured in some way. I’m in no position to divorce right now and I really don’t want to. Managing the situation is my only solution and thanks to this book, I can now do a much better job at it! Thank you!

If at first you don’t succeed, blame your parents.
This is not only completely inaccurate, but potentially very harmful. What are this person’s credentials, and where does he get his misinformation? And why isn’t there an option of “no stars?” Don’t listen!!!

For real???
This is to encourage me to break up with them, right???? Thank you for this book! I left almost a year ago, I knew I was supposed to go... but never felt settled. This book answers the “why” that my intuition was warning me about & the “why” to my yearning to return! Thank you. Now I can be at deep inner peace, and send loving vibes ***FROM A DISTANCE*** instead of being in limbo trying to understand why I was afraid, turned off, and why I wanted to be with them even though I was treated poorly. I’m healthier now, and what I feel towards them is a caring natural love, a love is known to me and that they can’t understand. Thank you for the stone cold in my face truth about what it would have been like to stay. What you describe was how it was to be with them. Whew! I’m glad I left and I wish that person the best xoxo

I found hope and a validation of my strategies.
The book is a light in the path of a woman who has loved the same narcissist for 30 years. We were divorced for many years, but we rebonded over his sick Mother who is also my absolutely best friend. She passed last February and I am now trying to hold fast to myself. I won't live with him although he craves the security. Now he offers marriage. I refuse to get in deep again. Your book gave me the best information for me at this time. He's 66 a semi retired music production manager and set up tear down. He calls himself Road Dawg. I needed the words of encouragement and understanding. God Bless you
