Great information

Understanding what ADHD is and does in a persons life and the need for Self-Care is the basis of this book. Physical and emotional health are both discussed with ideas on activities to do and mental outlets like Advocate, Therapy, DBT, CBT etc. The social life of a person with ADHD can be confusing or hard, challenges and ideas to get through them are included. Support groups, online communities, and friends, setting boundaries, self awareness and self-advocacy asseses your needs, limitations and triggers to help to effectively communicate your needs. Many options are given for helping someone get organized and stay organized if that is a need with instructions on how to use each. There are a good amount of affirmations in the last chapter.
This is not only a good book for people with ADHD, but also for people who either manage or have friends with ADHD.

I have shared these techniques with my nephew who has ADHD, and he found this audiobook to be incredibly helpful. It is helping him manage his symptoms and he's learning to prioritize his mental and emotional health.

Very Helpful and Supportive Information

This book is packed full of very informative and helpful information. I’ve recently come to learn that I work with two different adults that are on the spectrum. Each has different strengths and tolerances. Learning examples of what their experiences may be, has taught me to be much more sensitive to circumstances which seemed, at first, somewhat “different”. The teachings in this book are an excellent resource for learning about ADHD and how we can help support ADHD adults and their quest for supportive, safe environments. The education in this book also does an excellent job of raising awareness about how ADHD may manifest in women and men so we may identify the symptoms in others even if the individual does not share this information directly. This book is very enlightening. I highly recommend this book as a great tool to learn about ADHD and self-care opportunities for yourself and others.

I wish non-ADHD people would listen to this!

Living with ADHD always brings its challenges that people often assume are just being lazy, forgetful, depressed, and so many other things that we are not. Finding a book that gets it is pretty unique, and I would love for people without ADHD to listen to it just so they could understand what we go through. The book covers several topics and doesn't just focus on our difficulties but also our strengths. The book's advice is not just generic and can be found anywhere but specifically tailored to how ADHD affects us. Learning to improve my social life was really important as you often feel misunderstood and tend to keep secluded. The emphasis on self-care and self-love was huge. We constantly go through this feeling of beating ourselves up for not being better or remembering things or just doing what's on the to do list.

If you're living with ADHD, this is a great book to listen to. If you have someone who just doesn't get you, get them this book.

Work with your unique brain rather than against it

This book was so helpful. I've listened to self-care books before, but I've never read one that is specifically for people with ADHD. It was so eye-opening! There are some things I've been trying that weren't working. But listening to this book showed me that even though that may work for other people, it's going against the way my brain works. So, it's like I'm working against myself. No wonder some other "calming" practices were stressing me out.

Indispensable and empowering guide

One of the audiobook's most commendable qualities is its holistic view of ADHD management. By emphasizing the importance of personal care and outlining strategies for integrating crucial wellness practices into daily life, it addresses the often-overlooked link between physical health and ADHD. The guide's practical tips for optimizing nutrition, exercise, and sleep routines are invaluable, offering listeners concrete steps to enhance their well-being.
Moreover, the inclusion of mindfulness and meditation techniques as tools for emotional regulation is particularly noteworthy. These practices are presented in a way that is accessible and relevant to those with ADHD, making the concept of mindfulness more approachable and less daunting.
The audiobook also tackles the critical topics of therapy and counseling with sensitivity and pragmatism, encouraging listeners to consider professional support a viable and beneficial option. Additionally, its focus on improving social life and navigating workplace challenges offers a comprehensive look at the multifaceted experiences of individuals with ADHD, providing practical and empowering guidance.
The most striking feature of this audiobook is its use of real-life examples. These stories not only serve to destigmatize ADHD but inspire listeners by showcasing how others with ADHD have successfully implemented various practices to live fulfilling lives. This narrative approach creates a sense of community and understanding, reinforcing that listeners are not alone in their journey. It is highly recommended.
