Publisher's summary

An empowering and witty guide to banishing shame and living your fullest life with ADHD—plus tips for loved ones on helping them navigate this world, too—from viral duo ADHD_Love.

What if you stopped feeling ashamed of constantly being late or of getting so hyperfocused on a task that you drop everything else you had to do? How can you as a partner, parent, or friend better understand your neurodivergent loved one’s way of moving through the world?

In Dirty Laundry, life partners Rich Pink and Rox Emery unapologetically guide you through the ups and downs of life with ADHD. Every chapter starts with a common symptom of ADHD, like impulsivity or struggles with finances, and an earnest moment from their own lives to show you how they navigate the symptom together. Rox reminds you to be kind to yourself and love yourself for who you are; Rich offers tips on how he uses compassion and honesty instead of jumping to conclusions. Whether it's helping your ADHDer with friendly time-checks before an appointment or reminding yourself to take breaks during hours spent hyperfocusing on a new project, Rox and Rich give you the tools to destigmatize and normalize life with ADHD.

Amazing book on the experience of ADHD IRL.

Amazing book on the experience of ADHD IRL. The stories from the alternate points of view of the ADHD partner and the neurotypical partner had me choking up. Some descriptions gave me chills. Their ADHD experiences are so relatable. I don't believe I have ever experienced any level of acceptance and appreciation of the qualities of ADHD from a partner or family member. It is good to know it is possible. I will recommend to therapy clients. This is a great book for everyone with ADHD and everyone in a relationship with someone with ADHD.

Perfect. Should be mandatory reading in middle school for the entirety of our neurodiverse world!!

I have been raving about this couple’s YouTube to my mom who struggles very deeply with a level of shame she seemingly believed she deserved – from her adult diagnosis of adhd and her lifelong struggles which stemmed from the lacking diagnosis /answers…
(I'm also ADHD and on the spectrum along with other lovely diagnostic labels lol and I found myself identifying so deeply with this couple on their YouTube videos, when I saw they'd come out with a book (2 books now!! SMALL TALK!! CANNOT WAIT!!!) I immediately had to get it)
So I got it …and I listened to it ahead of time- in one sitting. Yes, it's that good. The authors are also the voices reading and that makes it simply superb! I digress....so I pre-listened lol so I could bring up a specific and perfect part of the book to begin playing during the next driving time with mama cita…So- time comes and I nonchalantly just turn it on. Shes known for talking over and thru and just plain seeming to never have any moments of being able to pay attention to just one thing --- but this book made her stop. It made her breathe. It made her cry. And it made her step lighter and smile brighter and that is something that I will never ever be able to sufficiently say thank you to the authors for-- but this is a must read!!! (Or listen!!)

Thanks for showing me what acceptance looks like

After my wife listened to Rox talk about getting her finances in order, she setup auto bill pay on the next bill that came up, asked me to sit with her, and made the phone call to let the creditor know she was resuming payments. She had the courage to do this because of your book. We thank you.

Outstanding Insight

I have a friend who I care deeply about. She is an ADHDer. This book has allowed me a better insight on how to genuinely connect with her on a multitude of levels. Trust is being built by following the guidance offered in these pages. Being less worried about optic of my own emotions and really understanding that her behavior is not a reflection of lack of care. I struggle with attachments and can be a bit nervous when she goes ‘dark’ in our communications. This gave me clarity on how the ADHD brain works. I am learning that it isn’t personal, it is ADHD. Thank you to the authors for both of their perspectives, their honesty and their willingness to show us that a neurotypical mind and a neurodivergent mind can live harmoniously together!

I chased the dopamine

I hyperfixated this book from start to finish, intriguing..inspiring and insightful. The back and forth narrative perspectives offer a wonder ebb and flow.

Love it!

Made me smile and laugh and cry. I am individual with ADHD who has always had partners without it and I related so much to Rox’s struggle with love. I’m buying a copy of this for my current partner to in hopes that he will read it too and it will help our relationship by helping us both to understand each other. Thanks to you both for writing this. I hope you’ll write more!

Thank you soo much for the therapy session! I cry reading this but don't worry it is tears of joys and happiness. I wish younger me had this.

Relatable AF

I've watched the videos for months, and when I saw the book was coming out I had to have it. This book takes the one or two word symptoms of ADHD and injects them with reality; taking them from two dimensional concepts to experiences that are...relatable AF. It not only explains what someone with this diagnosis may be feeling but it gives helpful ways to support that person while helping them manage their symptoms. An incredible look into both sides of a relationship with ADHD where acceptance and compassion are the keys in reducing shame and stigmatization.
