Publisher's summary

This program features a new introduction read by Daniel Goleman and a bonus dialogue between the author and Jon Kabat-Zinn.

It is the tenth anniversary since the first publication of Daniel Goleman's groundbreaking bestseller, Emotional Intelligence, which maps the territory where IQ meets EQ, where we apply what we know to how we live. Spending over a year on the New York Times bestseller list, Emotional Intelligence provided the evidence for what many successful people already knew: being smart isn't just a matter of mastering facts; it's a matter of mastering your own emotions and understanding the emotions of the people around you.

Excellent Book that everyone should read.

this book is phenomenal in the message. the only part I didn't like was the narrator sounds like a dud reading a text book. if everyone in the world took the information in this book to hear the world would be much happier and peaceful.

Good Material with Very Poor Delivery

I almost returned this title due to the number of skips in the audio. I found enough value in the content that I could look past the obvious lack of attention to the proper recording of the work. However, the intro and outro music per chapter was unnecessary and somewhat distracting while the narrator was a bit rushed in delivery and the nasal quality of his voice made it difficult at times to pay attention to the meaning of his words. Slowing down the audio was no remedy for this issue. It might be better to actually read this work rather than listen to obtain the full value of this book.

Great book but but voice

I really like the topics and examples that the book gave
It is more or less easy to understand the book even without that field’s knowledge
However the only thing the guy who was narrating the book felt very robotic and inhuman

A classic if EI

This is just a wonderful classic of emotional intelligence concept. It gave us so many examples that one can easy relate. It gave me and opportunity for self reflection and a mental exercise of how I communicate with people.

I’m glad I listed to it after having it in my virtual shelf for over 3 years.

Great information

I expected actual assistance with self discovery which I got. However, I also received a lot of side notes.

Very helpful

This book was great for helping me understand my own responses and motivations. It also motivated me as an early childhood educator give more attention to the emotional development of students.

Great foundation for self improvement

Addresses the pillars of Emotional Intelligence along with their importance in life. I was expecting more teachings on techniques and real life hacks on how to enrich each pillar. But still, this is a great and importany book for starting the journey of self improvement. Highly Recommended

An important book

This book should be required reading for high school students, teachers, parents and managers. However this particular recording must have been copied from a CD because there are skips in it, and while it’s not frequent, there are enough clumps of skips to ruin entire paragraphs. The interview at the end was a nice attempt to offer something new apart from the written word.
