New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Larry Correia sets this gritty urban fantasy, a sequel to Hard Magic and Spellbound, in an alternate noir 1930s. A tough P.I. battles an interdimensional monster that wants to suck magic power out of the world.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next.

Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him. The world's most capable Active, Faye Vierra, could back him up, but she is hiding from forces that think she is too dangerous to live. So Jake has put together a ragtag crew of airship pirates and Grimnoir knights - and set out on a suicide mission to stop the predator before it is too late.

Guns! Magic! Monsters!

Addictive. Couldn't put it down.
The conclusion to the adventures of Jake Sullivan, Sally Faye Viera, and the Knights of the Grimnoir takes you on a globetrotting romp.
Bronson Pinchot delivers another excellent performance.
Larry Correia gives you white knuckle edge-of-your-seat action one moment and tugs on your heart strings the next.
This is a book that will get multiple listens.

Great Conclusion (?) to the Grimnoir Chronicles

What made the experience of listening to Warbound the most enjoyable?

Larry Correia's creative story telling and character development is at the top of the genre. He keep me engaged with the story, I'm never wandering off.

Have you listened to any of Bronson Pinchot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Pinchot does a great job in each of these three books, bringing me right in with the character, whether male or female. Never a misstep. Joy to listen to.

Correia keeps pace with earlier books

I really enjoy Pinchot and makes the book shine. His style reminds me of Jim butcher in the climax of a wonderful build up to the big fight. Good fun

Haven't regretted a Larry Correia yet!

What made the experience of listening to Warbound the most enjoyable?

The suspense, the bloodshed, the sheer blood and guts of it. Nothing sparkly or clean here.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Warbound?

When Jake Sullivan revealed his plan M. I was bowled over. Totally did not see that coming.

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

His male, female and narrative voice are all very distinctive. No overlap, very well done. Although would like to see his 'shouting' voice actually shouting or at least a little louder. Only knew the characters were shouting via... he shouted...

It was a little odd.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Quest to find the Pathfinder

Any additional comments?

Go read it. It's worth your time.

Absolutely phenomenal!

From start to finish this series has captivated my attention. Superb storyline, exceptional narration, I think this is the best audio book on all fronts that I have ever heard. I plan on following both the author and the narrator's careers and purchasing subsequent books that they are involved in.
Side note... my inner monlogue speech patterns are now similar to Jake Sullivan's. Thanks lol

Oustanding Conclusion to the Grimnoir Chronicles

Would you listen to Warbound again? Why?

Yes, and that rare thing for myself. My usual opinion would be why would I listen to again when I can listen to something new, but in case the answer is YES. The story while simple is awesomely entertaining and the Bronson Pinchot does a outstanding job bringing the characters to life in all three books.

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

Tie between Faye Vierra and Jake Sullivan, though Toru is right up there as well. The characters are all so well written and brought to life by Bronson that it really is hard to choose a favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I could have easily taken a long drive and hoped to get stuck in traffic.

Any additional comments?

Sad to see the series end, I will miss it and will listen again. Still what a great conclusion.

Very enjoyable

The series was a very pleasant surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much at first, but found myself enjoying this very much. The weaving of historical events and characters with science-fiction added an interesting element to the storyline.

Great end to a wonderfully entertaining series.

This was the final book in the Grimnoir Chronicles. It wraps up the story nicely and I enjoyed it a lot. While I haven’t enjoyed this series as much as Correia’s MHI series; it was a well done series and action packed.

I listened to this on audiobook and the narration is well done. I still have some trouble hearing some of the really low pitched character voices with the road noise in my car; but that’s something I have gotten used to over the series. Aside from that, the narrator does an excellent job with having distinct character voices and portraying character emotion well.

At the opening of this book Jake Sullivan is taking a small, yet desperate and determined, group of Grimnoir knights to face off with the Chairman in Singapore. Meanwhile Faye has gone off grid and is visiting a Elder French Grimnoir knight that is supposed to help her understand what it means to be the Spellbound and if she has any hope of making use of the Spellbound curse without destroying the world.

The book is very fast-paced and viewpoint switches between a number of characters. However the story focuses mostly on Jake and Faye for this book. There is a ton of action and I really enjoy the magic powers the characters have in here. The character continue to be able to manipulate portions of the The Power such as gravity, strength, and fire. This book stretches that a bit as characters learn more and more about the Power and are able to stretch their abilities into other areas of power.

While I enjoyed a lot of the characters my favorite of the bunch is Faye. She is super smart and super kind and sweet, but she doesn’t hesitate to take out anyone around her that she considers evil. It was interesting to have a character like her given ultimate power and force her to face the decision of whether or not that power can be used for good.

As with all of Correia’s books there is a lot of gun talk and talk about war and weapons. There are some pretty awesome battle scenes throughout too.

The book is a fantasy alternate history with the book being set in the 1940’s but in a world where all these magical powers exist. Some of the political tensions of that time are kept in the story as well.

Overall this was a very well done and fast-paced historical fantasy. There is a ton of action, a lot of witty dialogue, and wonderful characters throughout. I have really enjoyed all of Correia’s books and will definitely continue to read future books by him. I would recommend this series to Corriea fans and fans of action-packed alternate histories with some magic in them.
