Publisher's summary

What part of the Second Amendment don’t you understand?

That’s the question posed by award-winning, bestselling author, and professional firearms instructor Larry Correia.

Bringing with him the practical experience that comes from having owned a high-end gun store—catering largely to law enforcement—and as a competitive shooter and self-defense trainer, Correia blasts apart the emotion-laden, logic-free rhetoric of the gun-control fanatics who turn every "mass shooting" into a crazed call for violating your rights, abusing the Constitution—and doing absolutely nothing to really fight crime.

In his essential new audiobook, In Defense of the Second Amendment, Correia reveals:

  • Why "gun-free" zones are more dangerous for law-abiding citizens,
  • How the Second Amendment does indeed include your right to own an AR-15—and why that’s not an "outdated" concept,
  • Why "red flag" laws don’t work, can be easily abused, and ignore a much more commonsensical approach to keeping guns out of the wrong hands,
  • The insanity of "criminal justice reform" that frees dangerous criminals and "gun reform" that penalizes your right to self-defense, and
  • How we can return to a society that has a safe and healthy relationship with guns—as we had for most of our history.

Correia’s promise: "Believe me, I’ve heard every argument relating to gun control possible. I can show you how to defend your rights."

Urgent, informed, with vitally important information for whoever who owns a gun or is thinking about owning a gun or who cares about the preservation of our constitutional rights, In Defense of the Second Amendment is a landmark book of enduring importance.

Should be required reading to speak on the subject

Excellent information put forth in a straightforward yet colorful way. Highly recommend. Good for people on and on either side of the fence.

Yes, it’s that good

Larry spells it out unequivocally. The right of self defense is a human right granted to us by God and protected by the 2nd Amendment, for all Americans. I’ve read other gun rights books, and while they are great and filled with facts, they can be dry, not this one. Not for hardcore anti-rights, non-Americans, but definitely for those of us who are concerned with our safety and those “on the fence” about guns and the 2A.

Things I wish I’d written

This isn’t his fiction, but does slay monsters. The book really nailed it on the topic of guns in America. He covers the subject well, and with an in-your-face manner, it is unlike anything else I’ve read on the subject. If you have questions about “gun culture”, or are sick of stupid propaganda about guns and gun ownership, this book lays out the reality of it for you. Thanks Larry! I loved it.

An excellent breakdown of a complex issue

Larry does an indepth dive in to why the Second Amendment is important, relevant to life today, and protects a basic human right.
He brings the facts and figures, and he brings clear and easily followed logic to make a compelling case.

Solid

Nothing that wasn’t already known, but well packaged and well articulated.

Will definitely share with friends and family.

Outstanding defense

As an avid defender of the second amendment, this book explains so many great counter arguments to the gun control advocates, and nut jobs!!! outstanding job, Mr. Correia

Good information, poor bias

This is a difficult to review to write, because on the one hand, Mr. Correia has solid arguments, in many cases impeccable. Where the book comes up lacking, however, is in the fact that his condescending attitude is likely to turn off those readers that are open to his arguments, but not quite sold. There were many moments that I found myself cringing at the delivery, but nodding in agreement at the substance.

A particular gripe I have is that he is ultra-condescending about the 2020 protests over police brutality and racial killings. To hear the author tell it, these protests came out of nowhere, and with no reason behind them. He makes mention that he wants to steer clear of politics beyond that of gun control, but his statements about the protests lays bare his disdain for the years of suffering (especially during the Trump presidency) of people of color, especially black people, at the hands of both racist cops and racist civilians.

If i were to offer Mr. Correia a word of advice on this subject, it would be to stick to the facts and leave his personal opinions and indignations out of his next book on the subject. His arguments are sound and convincing at least 95% of the time, but his tone is likely to alienate people still on the fence. I was in his camp, and even I felt offended at many points.

I really learned a lot from this book

I'm already a non-negotiable 2A advocate, but there are some chilling facts and thought exercises within that really got to me. I'll be listening to this one many times. The hard copy arrives tomorrow.
And I thought Correia's fiction was awesome. This is epic.

Larry lays it out in clear unambiguous terms

I’m thinking of 3 groups in relation to this book:
1. Pro gun rights people: Larry is your guy and lays out the current state of the battle for rights, all the objections and answers to the antis.
2. Anti gun right people: Larry’s confrontational tone and scorn of you will probably turn you off and make you hate this book.
3. Undecided or unknowledgeable people: this book is a treasure trove of info about concealed carry, home defense, but particularly about the battle for your gun rights and the unceasing war against your right to self defense, self determination and the ability to resist a tyrannical government.

Amazing Book of Truth

This book is the truth from beginning to end. Well written, with a great narrator, it debunks the lies that ant-gunners tell. It provides many ways in which the reader can become more involved in the fight for gun rights. Well done!
