Publisher's summary

A lost colony planet, a perplexing murder, and a dogged homicide cop in this Audible Original story from best-selling author Larry Correia.

When the biggest colony ship in human history was sent to settle a paradise world, an accident hurtled it deep into uncharted space. A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Landing on the only five mountain peaks tall enough to rise above the lethal acid clouds, the settlers carved a civilization from the rock.

A hundred years later, Five Points has grown into a city of corruption and violence. With powerful corporations ruling the surface domes and criminal syndicates running the caverns below, murder is just the cost of doing business.

So when a Special Magistrate is found dissolving in a protein vat, it barely registers - until DCI Lutero Cade, the last honest cop in Five Points, catches the case. What he finds could threaten the colony’s very existence.

Or, at the very least, Cade himself.

Great!

Great story but now I would like a sequel or more from this world that the author created.

Thrilling story, impeccably told

Has everything you want in a detective story - interesting mystery, hardboiled protagonist, great action. Toss on a real realized scifi setting and great narration and this us a must listen.

Typical Larry Correia fun

It was short but sweet. As usual Larry Correia delivered the goods, fast paced in a very original way. Excellent character development, and back ground story - but in small pieces to keep your interest engaged. Oliver Wyman was made to perform Correia's writings, outstanding as usual.

Interesting

Having listened to this I have the sense that there will be more to follow. Not a bad story, not too much time to really develop and grow a story, but it is still pretty good.

Larry Correia is a god!

Seriously, everything I have read by him I have loved. I haven't read any of his monster hunter stuff, but I absolutely loved his Grimnoir chronicles stuff, and his Tom Strange Insurance Salesman stuff was hilarious. This book was no exception.

This was a short murder mystery in a Sci Fi world. While it was only an hour and a half, it had great character buildup of both the main character and his sidekick. It built the world, explained where it came from and how it got there, and then added some interesting things at the end that would leave it open for more. I would LOVE more on the series. It was a great self contained story buy itself, but also a great teaser into a new and exciting galaxy.

Highly recommended.

Great Story

Was not sure I would like this book based on the title. Turns out the story is awesome. Can't wait until the next story comes out. Hopefully there will be more books with the same characters!!!!

More please

I want more. Please write a full length book, sooner rather than later. Great fun.
