New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Larry Correia sets this gritty urban fantasy, a sequel to Hard Magic and Spellbound, in an alternate noir 1930s. A tough P.I. battles an interdimensional monster that wants to suck magic power out of the world.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next.

Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him. The world's most capable Active, Faye Vierra, could back him up, but she is hiding from forces that think she is too dangerous to live. So Jake has put together a ragtag crew of airship pirates and Grimnoir knights - and set out on a suicide mission to stop the predator before it is too late.

Excellent wrap up.

This is an excellent wrap up to a very good series. The writing is an interesting mix of genre, little bit steampunk, little bit noir, little bit fantasy. It all blends well with the PERFECT reader. Bronson Pinchot it one of the very best out there. Definitely a 5 star series all around.

Noir Fantasy, approaching epic status

If you have passed on Mr. Correia's books because you are not a sci-fi or fantasy fan. Please reconsider. He has developed a story with depth, intrigue, action, and characters it is impossible not to care about. I really believe that if Mr. Correia had started out with a big publishing company rather than self publishing he would be credited as one of our best new thriller/action/fantasy writers. There is something for everyone in the Grimnoir trilogy, I know that I will be revisiting the stories both in print and on audible (outstanding performance by Bronson Pinchot on all three volumes).

Give him a try, you can always ask for your credit back, but I suspect you will be hooked after the first one. I have 532 title in my audible library, and no one has please me as a reader/listener as much as Mr. Correia. If you are hesitant, I do suggest you start with the Grimnoir trilogy before moving on to the Monster Hunter opus (but I suspect you will be anxious to give that a try as well).

Good book

What did you love best about Warbound?

Really liked this series and loved Bronson Pinchot's narration. The only part I did not like was the ending. I'm not going to spoil anything, but would have prefered something in a little different direction. Having said that, this was a good book and a great listen!

Good three books

What did you love best about Warbound?

The character development was very good also they have done a good job mixing in throughout all three books comedy, mystery, drama the whole spectrum. Reader was not bad fit for the time period the book was written for and did a good job tying in some historical people into the story

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this series good listening

Kick Ass Guns, Girls, Mechanized Suits and Ninja's

If you could sum up Warbound in three words, what would they be?

Kick Ass Guns, Girls, Mechanized Suits and Ninja's...Oh My! What more can you ask for? Well you won't have to ask, because Larry Correia has packed it all into this Third(and perhaps final, although I hope not) installment of the Grimnoir Chronicles. Warbound, serves up all the fantasy, action, shoot 'em up "Killery" (Larry's word not mine) That you could possibly want from this genre. If you're a true Died in the wool Gun Guy, like me and the Author (who is a certified firearms instructor) then you're going to appreciate the realistic yet exciting gunplay narrative. Not like some writers who write totally ridiculous gun scenes like "then he took the safety of his Glock..." Ha, ha, ha they just make me laugh! This is a great listen, thanks to BP (Bronson Pinchot famously known as Balki Bartokomous) who improves his performance from the first two books. I almost forgot it was him. Great listen especially in the car...It's like a movie in your head! I highly recommend this and all Correia's books. My only complaint is why hasn't Audible made the audiobooks for Dead Six Yet??? Hank Strange :)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lance...don't want to give any spoilers, you'll see why!

What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

very good range of character voices

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Pure Fantasy Action Killery! in my best movie guy voice.

Any additional comments?

Great story and a good ending for the series

I finished this book around... it must of been 4 in the morning a week ago or so ago.

That being said I liked this series and I think that this book is a great end for the series. At least I hope it is, the ending was satisfying and the knights deserve their rest.

I guess one way to describe it is that it was a good three course meal and now your full but not stuffed, and satisfied.

I do like the world though, the magic system is interesting and in my opinion if Larry Correia wants to continue on in the world I think it would be best done with other characters or with a time skip.

A fantastic installment of this series!

Any additional comments?

I have listened to a lot of books in my time, but I have to say Larry Correia is one of my all time favorite authors. He never lets his stories become bogged down. His style always keeps things moving forward with action and character development. This book is no different than the others in the series. Things pick back up with all your old favorites and you get to meet a few new ones along the way too. Bronson Pinchot also continues to show his great talent by giving voice and depth to already rich characters. I don't know if I can quite hear Jake Sullivan in my head any other way. The only problem I have is after devouring this book so quickly, I have to wait what seems a really long time for the next book. At least there should be a MHI installment between this one and the next so I can get a fix there too. I highly recommend this author and narrator!

Great finale

Warbound is what the series needed to deliver a great series finale. Faye and Sullivan are off on their own quests to stop the Pathfinder and figure out who they are. Sullivan spends most of the story in Shanghai and Faye spends the vast majority of it alone coming to terms with being the Spellbound and what that entails.

The stakes are never higher than they are in this book. If they fail, the Chairman, Pathfinder and those against the Grimnoir win, and even success may not guarantee victory.Faye meets with one of the elders to come to terms with her power and together they go on a journey of discovery and history to learn who, what and why the Spellbound exists. This part feels different and while it's important, it seems disjointed from the main plot of what Sullivan, Toru, and the rest of the Grimnoir are doing in China.

Sullivan's task is a desperate one, but there is little time to execute their plan to have the best shot for success. The best part of the series is the epic battle and the epilogue, this does not exclude the final showdown with Toru. That was one of the best moments in the series, and fits so well.

What kept this from a 5 star book is a lot of the Faye story, it's needed and had to be there, but it just didn't feel like it fit with the main story beats, but her climax was well done and works once it was all put together.

Bronson Pinchot delivers a great performance and my only criticism was that some of his soft spoken words were hard to hear in the car even with the volume up.

Worth a read as is the whole story, so start with Hard Magic and enjoy the ride.

Excellent!

I love the details, the narrator's ability to put just the right nuances in his voice that portray the character's nationality.
