Audie Award, Paranormal, 2013

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so - successfully and in secret - since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir. The knights must become fugitives while they attempt to discover who framed them.Thing go from bad to worse when Jake Sullivan, former P.I. and knight of the Grimnoir, receives a telephone call from a dead man - a man he helped kill. Turns out the Power jumped universes because it was fleeing from a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. That predator has just landed on Earth.

quite the explosive ending

it makes you wonder how the protagonists are able to manage the upper hand in a fight

Love this Book!!

What did you love best about Spellbound?

What did I love best? I can't pick just one thing. I love the continuing story line, the characters, the performance of Bronson Pinchot.

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

I love how Bronson Pinchot has completely different voices for all the characters, and he truly brings the personality out of each person. He makes you feel like you really know how and why they make the decisions they do.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When I found out the German wasn't dead. It was a big sigh of relief.

Even better than the first book!

The storyline was much more cohesive in this second volume in the series. The characters continue to develop, some more than others. Glad to see Jake Sullivan's intellect being given a chance to shine a bit more - a big brain for the massive body!

Fantastic story, does not disappoint!

Would you listen to Spellbound again? Why?

Again Larry Correia keeps the pace going with his 2nd installment in the Grimnoir Chronicles. The story is well thought out and planned, no lagging parts to speak of in my opinion as everything fit together perfectly. Bronson Pinchot is my defacto choice as the number one narrator in the Audible book experience, his portrayal of character personalities is top notch and adds so much realism to the whole story line.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fay has to be the best character, her spunky personality and resilience are force to be reckoned with and to not be taken lightly.

Have you listened to any of Bronson Pinchot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only my second experience listening to Bronson Pinchot, but it certainly won't be my last. He is the best so far.

This book has it all

If you love action, tragedy, triumph, & magic read this series. The story pulls you into the characters, the nonstop action, you can't put it down because you want to know how the good guys are going to get out of the next mess. Love the witty banter. I'm enjoying the Grimnoir Series better than the Monsters Inc. stories. Great reader too; loved how he voices the characters, I can really picture each one as if was sitting in a movie theater. Though I am constantly to turn the volume up and down.

Excellent Story!

One of the best series I have every listened to. I really loved this series, it took me a little to get into the story but once I was in I couldn't get enough of it and the characters were awesome. Very well written and thought out. I love this author. #Urban Fantasy#Magic#Guns#Action#tagsgiving#sweepstakes

Spellbound is Great!

What did you love best about Spellbound?

Very entertaining listen! Action, G Men with X Men powers are part of a secret society out to save the world while Roosevelt's governmet wants to register them. Great twist on history with a supernatural thread. Worth the credit. Try it. You'll like it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake, the Heavy, & Faye, the Traveler, of course (the 2 main characters)

Which character ??? as performed by Bronson Pinchot ??? was your favorite?

Toss up between Jake, the Heavy who can alter gravity, & Faye, the Traveler, who can travel (of course) by jumping. The southerner in me just loves their accents . Bronson Pinchot is really a good narrator. If you like Michael Kramer, Kate Redding, or James Marsters then you will enjoy Bronson Pinchot.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It really was & I rarely say that about a book!! I finished listening to book 1 & couldn't wait for this.

Any additional comments?

Spellbound is Pure Magic

When you start the Spellbound series it is like getting hooked on chocolate. You always have to go back for more. The characters are delightful and original; the plot is out of this world. Jake Sullivan, the loyal and moral ex-Con who believes in liberty and freedom is by far my most favorite character.

Each character must confront not only their own truths but their own fears, their own personal demons. Jake becomes the glue that holds the group together when they have to fight their inner demons and the evil in the world. He also is the glue that allows success in the end.

The audio version is hands over fists better than the print version. It is wonderful to sit back and have a talented narrator read to you. Bronson Pinchot is wonderful. Overall: This has become a favorite. The plot is new and fresh and mixes a stark originality with somber far reaching themes. Its as addictive as chocolate.

I am never disappointed with Larry Correia.

Another great magic action story.

I would listen to this twice, the story is solid, first you know where you are who the players are in this post WWI saga about magic woven into the early 20th century. The writer creates a good visualization of the magic as its being used and takes you into a phone call with a dead villian and our hero Nate Sullivan, since the story is so good to that point I just went along with it, the writer earned it. I also don't usually like high violence action for long, but his action was awesome, a lightning bolt fight with such intensity that it ends the dust bowl of the 1930's. Listen to this book it must be done. I listened to the 1st book before this one and I highly recommend it too. The dark story, lightens up just at the right times with characters that don't take themselves too seriously even in a serious situation. The ending sets up the next book in the series which I will be buying as soon as it appears.

Good story, fantastic narration

This is the first time I've ever looked for books based on a narrator. Bronson Pinchot is note perfect for a 30's gangster and a southern girl both. Amazing. Can't wait until Larry writes volume 3!
