Publisher's summary

A shy wallflower meets her dream man - or does she? - in the next book in New York Times best-selling author Eloisa James' Wildes of Lindow series.

Miss Viola Astley is so painfully shy that she's horrified by the mere idea of dancing with a stranger; her upcoming London debut feels like a nightmare.

So she's overjoyed to meet handsome, quiet vicar with no interest in polite society - but just when she catches his attention, her reputation is compromised by a duke.

Devin Lucas Augustus Elstan, Duke of Wynter, will stop at nothing to marry Viola, including marrying a woman whom he believes to be in love with another man.

A vicar, no less.

Devin knows he's no saint, but he's used to conquest, and he's determined to win Viola's heart.

Viola has already said Yes to his proposal, but now he wants her unruly heart...and he won't accept No for an answer.

Another Wilde of Lindow reaches maturity

I love the insightful and nuanced (and let’s not overlook elegant) prose and plot to which Eloisa James treats her faithful readers. It’s a pleasure to see her characters develop so plausibly. I re-read most of James’ series every few years and am never disappointed

She says YES

Viola Astley the step daughter to one of the most influential Dukes is horrified that her upcoming debut with her step sister Joan will be marred with her shyness and her penchant to throw up when nervous. When she hears an arrogant Duke say ti his uncle that she is not a Wilde and says not to many favorable things about her, she actually confronts him.

Devin the Duke of Wynter promised his father on his death bed he will may a Dukes daughter. He is looking at Joan Wilde when his uncle suggests Viola Astley he snubs the suggestion until he actually meets the young lady and he will do anything to win her hand. A Beautifully written book and the Narrator Susan Duerden was excellent.

A delight

A great series with wonderful characters, the Wildes, and their family members provide hours of enjoyment. This story is sweet and heated, with two main characters who had flaws and fears of their own. It was perfectly enhanced by the talented narrator. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was WELL worth the credit.

Not her best

A little simplistic, pretty predictable and not as good as previous books. Susan Duetden is an “acquired taste” as a narrator, but I enjoy her. She isn’t challenged much by this far from complex, latest James work.
