They call him the Demon Highlander. The fearsome Lieutenant Colonel Liam MacKenzie is known for his superhuman strength, towering presence, and fiery passion in the heat of battle. As laird to the MacKenzie clan, the undefeated marquess has vanquished his foes with all the rage and wrath of his barbaric Highland ancestors. But when an English governess arrives to care for his children, the master of war finds himself up against his greatest opponent...in the game of love.
Defying all expectations, Miss Philomena is no plain-faced spinster but a ravishing beauty with voluptuous curves and haughty full lips that rattle the laird to his core. Unintimidated by her master's raw masculinity and savage ways, the headstrong lass manages to tame not only his wild children but the beast in his soul. With each passing day, Liam grows fonder of Miss Mena - and more suspicious. What secret is she hiding behind those emerald eyes? What darkness brought her to his keep? And how can he conquer this magnificent woman's heart...without surrendering his own?

Love historical and paranormal romances with smart, imperfect people who against all odds find love when they are not looking for it.
This is the third book in the series, all are excellent alone and outstanding as a series. There is more coming in print PLEASE bring them to Audible too! Amazing strong men who have a weakness for strong but soft women. The characters you love come back in the each story, weaving a continuous tale. Romance, humor, passion, and a scared past with dark secrets all come together in these books in perfect harmony. Perkns brings the characters alive with his consistent narration. He does a suburb job of men, women, and children's voices. Not too predictable, the stories have a few twists and suprises. Byrne's lyrical discriptions are unique in romance novels. She paints a picture of emotions--just sit still and enjoy.
I absolutely adorer this audio edition. I find that when I listen, I catch more than having read the written word. Maybe it's the inflection of the emphasis on certain things. Just so good!
Of course this book it a perfect follow up to The Highwayman and The Hunter
Mr. Perkins is PERFECT for Kerrigan Byrne's characters. He has an innate understanding of them
Kerrigan Byrne's writing becomes more irresistible with each book. The narrator of this book kept me captivated and willing as I shirked all other duties and surrendered my full attention to this heartbreakingly beautiful love story. Prepare yourself for The Demon Highlander!
yes love the audio much better.
When he gets to see her and it takes his breath.
I loved the whole thing
Narrator: Derek Perkins does a great job as usual on these books.
Really liked this one. This series is pretty good. Love the bad boys gone good ((Well not really good but how they care for their women and kids) in each of these.
The very last part of this book was GREAT!
Love how characters from the earlier books come and lend a hand at the end.
Very Unusual Concept
Derek Perkins is a great narrator for Highlanders and British. He is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
I love series books and that is why I purchased this one. I hope to read more in this series.
New author for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story held my attention from beginning to end. So glad to see her husband get his come-upance.
Edwina "I Love Books'
He was believable
Sorry to say I couldn't finish this story. Just to much abuse inflicted on the H/H!!
Edited Review April 17, 2017
I did finish The Highlander and have updated my rating as to a 3 star rating. It was a struggle to get through the inhuman cruelty that the heroine Lady Philomena/Mena endured by her husband Viscount Benchly. The hero Lieutenant Colonel, Marquis Ravenscroft and Laird of the MacKenzie clan also endured inhuman cruelty when he was a child at the hands of his father. These unlucky two most deserving people will find each other and heal others souls. Kerrigan Byrne is a exceptional storyteller. It just that I didn't like the content of this story as much as I have liked her other books. The ending was good except I wanted and had hope Mena would have children of her own. I also, wanted more revenge and action to be dispensed on all the villains in this story. The story should have described more of there punishment and one of the villains got off with not punishment.
Yes, and I have. It is not as strong a story as the first two but is no less a story. There is not as much fear here. The action is a bit less. This is more a romance of the heart. A kind of beauty and the beast story. The helpless maiden meets the misunderstood beast. Through kindness and caring she takes him and finds her our hearts blood.
I liked that the two heroes from book one and book two play an important part in helping this couple find each other. And that in end they all team up to put down evil.
